Upgrade from SE W810i, what should I get?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I just tried the Blackjack II and was not happy with it.... (I don't have an internet plan... so it was too complicated to use for simple tasks such as making calls, and calling phone numbers with letters in them...)

anyway can someone suggest a good solid phone like the W810i? (not the W580i)

and I almost forgot, I want something which is less than $100 on a upgrade (preferably free )

below are a few of the options that I came up with, based on value and price, (and no rebates required) but I am not limited to these option, so feel free to suggest something else..

Nokia N75 $79

Samsung A737 Free

Do you need a new phone? Personally, I would stick with that W810i until it dies. One of the best phones SE has ever put out, and one of the best that AT&T had in their lineup. Debrand it, enable flash menus, etc, and it will be like having a new phone.

I am out of contract for over 2 years now, so I sort of want to take advantage of a upgrade, (especially since I'm transferring my line over to my wife, and making a family plan... which may put me into a new contract and take away my upgrade option...)

*I got the W810i on upgrade from a different line...

(on a side note, how do I debrand the phone?)

And it's still one of the best phones, even though its been E.O.L for a while now. I've had mine since 11/06 and love it . I'm keeping it until another good SE phone comes out for ATT (which can be 2 + years knowing ATT)

so if that's the case, than it's worth getting a free phone now (as backup) and in 18 months get the new SE

Free? Don't they require another 2 years worth of chain on you? If you are sticking no matter what and don't care, then I would go with the LG. Not pleased with any Samsung I have ever touched.

If they put out the K850i, you may wish you had waited. If you just have to have a replacement phone, I would suggest selecting a cheap Go phone. Thus far there is no worthy successor to the W810i.

I am out of contract for over 2 years now, had I upgraded 2 year ago, I would have been eligible for another phone now, and I'm afraid that the phone that I am waiting for, will not be around for another 18 months, which brings me to conclusion that I should take advantage and at least get a free phone in the meantime as backup.

maybe just get a phone and sell it to make some cash on the side or apply it towards an unlocked phone (I like my K790a a lot) if you think you are going to be locked into another 2 years with your family plan regardless...

But between the two Sony Ericssons that AT&T offers, the w580i and z750a, I would get the z750a. It seems like it has better keys and HSDPA is always a nice feature.
