Treo 680's super sensitive microphone

Whenever I call my wife from my Treo 680, she comments how she can hear everything, such at the people talking at the next table, noises in the background, etc. I've noticed this too when my boss calls me from his Treo 755p. Is this just a feature of these phones? Is there a way to force some better noise cancellation on these devices?

it depends on which treo you have. the mic for the centro is on the bottom of the phone causing there to be more background noise. i usually just cup my hand over the mic and cover my mouth. it works the best. or just get a real cheesy corded headset for it.
