going from a Tilt (WM) to BB?

Hey all,

This new "Bold" device you speak of is very intriguing. Seeing that I usually keep a device for about a year has me thinking about trying a BB device and moving away from my WM device (Tilt)

As such I would like to pose a few questions to the BB diehards.

When one get's email pushed to them on a BB device is the email "synced" some place else one the web? In other words does it behave like a IMAP or Exchange account? If I mark a message as read or delete from the BB will it show the same on the PC in whatever way I choose to read email (Gmail, Thunderbird, etc)?

How does one keep a calendar and address book in sync between a BB and PC?

Do the BB's support HTML email?

How's the BB browser? It HAS to be better the PIE doesn't it? And if I'm not mistaken can't Opera Mini be run on BB devices?

I read somewhere about the Bold that it will somehow support syncing with iTunes. Is this new for the Bold or can current devices do it already? If so, does it work adequately?

Has anyone here gone from a Tilt to a BB device? Any regrets if so?

Thanks
D.

For complete sync of Email/Tasks/Calendar like Exchange, you need to be on BES. Thats what I've been told. If your not with a company, you will probably get BIS which does not sync calendar/tasks.

But calendar and contact info can always be synced via USB or Bluetooth if you are not on a BES server.

Man, it's hard to even do that now once you get used to exchange (I know I'm getting used to exchange now)

Thanks for those 3 replies guys. That was all information I was not aware of.

If syncing with BT/USB will the BB sync up with Outlook, or is that limited to a WM device?

Thanks

Wirelessly posted (HTC Touch Cruise: HTC_Polaris Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11))

Blackberry does sync with Outlook but over usb not over BT. I read somewhere its possible only with some policies but I could be wrong( had the bb for only a week)

One can always use Google Calendar. I sync my Outlook with Google Calendar, and my Google Calendar with my BB. For those of us who can't afford BES (my hospital does not even have a server), Google Calendar is the next best thing.

You can sync via usb with your pc.

HTML email is not native on the BB but you can buy a 3rd party app. (highly recommended).

Itunes will sync, but only your non-protected songs (no purchased music from Apple). Again, a 3rd party app is needed.

The browser is not IE, safari, opera. It's worse. But, it does work well. And yes, Opera can be downloaded and used a BB

For some reason it was impossible for me to sync my 8320 over BT and I read on crackberry it wasnt possible.

I guess I was wrong.

It is possible to get hosted BES from places like Sherweb for around $20 a month, which includes an Exchange mailbox with 3GB of space and everything. However, there is an activation fee, which I believe is $29.99, but only when you add a BlackBerry device.
