I just got the phone delivered today, but for some reason I can't open the back to place my battery in the phone. The instruction booklet didn't help much either. I place my finger where the pic in the instruction booklet said and pushed up, but it still won't open. Sorry for sounding like a newb. Hope it's just me and not the phone since the delivery people tossed it over the fence into my backyard.

The back on my Tilt is very difficult to open too. You need to not only push up (ie. towards the top of the phone), but put pressure down on the back itself to get it to pop out. In the store, when we unboxed mine, even the sales rep took several tries to finally get it open, and required a surprising amount of force, IMO.

Thanks for the reply. I can feel the back cover slightly moving, but it kind of feel like I am going to break it >_<. Did you put pressure where the instruction pic showed or did you put the pressure in the center of the back cover?

I pressed down pretty much where the manual's figure shows to. One thing you may find helps is put it down on a folded hand towel or something protective, on a hard surface (desk or counter top). That way you can push directly down and slide up at the same time (the screen is recessed, so it will be okay).

That took a lot of work and time. They should have made an eject switch/button like the 8525. Thanks a lot for the help Huey.

Glad it worked, it's tough! It does mean that my Tilt is not a phone where I could carry a spare battery and pop them in and out as needed - it's just too inconvienent given how tight my back face plate fits. Instead, I keep a AAA-battery charger in my backpack (I got this one but there are others out there). That, a second A/C charger at work and a car charger mean I have not had a need for a second battery.

I agree with you both.

It's simply too cumbersome of a process to swap out a low battery on the Tilt. The first time I had to take the battery cover off, I had to find and refer to the manual to make sure that I was pushing and pulling in all the right areas ... and all the while being concerned that I would push too hard somewhere and break something.
Getting to the battery on my Tilt is twice as cumbersome because I have a Seidio rubberized hard case on it.

I almost always have a car charger or wall charger nearby (thanks to the standard mini-usb charging port).
But I would for sure spend my money on a AAA-battery charger instead of a spare battery for my Tilt.
