Ringtones/Sounds on Touch

I recently switched from a moto Q to the Verizon Touch and have noticed something regarding ringtones/system sounds. mp3's and wav files that I had used in the past sound terrible (either too soft and/or major noise/tinty) when played on the built in speaker on my new touch, esp compared to the Q. It seems like wma files sound better, but I'm not sure what settings I should use for the best sound on my Touch if I convert my mp3s to a wma format. Any suggestions? Anyone?
