the prices on japan auction seems to been really cheap compared to ebay, cause there are tons of auctions services out there,i'm kinda new to this thing...if anyone had tried this please let know...

I bought my p905i through a middleman service and Yahoo Japan Auction.

Because they charge a commission and service fees, the phone cost me about 455 dollars although I won the auction at about $395. I didn't need a charger but if I did, then it'd be around $480 that I would have spent. The shipping was $35 and when the phone arrived, I was hit with a $65 duty. I think, in the end, I saved about $30 dollars but had to wait an additional week as the seller had to ship to the middleman first. While I was waiting, I did notice a few eBay auctions where I could've gotten it for a bit cheaper.

ic, which auction service did you use??
i just check ebay, their selling the phone for twice the amount their selling it on yahoo japan..

i believe pretty soon, we won't be needing the middleman. yahoo japan auction has a deal set with ebay in which each provider will be able to have their respective parties buy from each other, meaning we will be able to buy directly from yahoo japan auction.

A local "intermediary" will be necessary the same, because more Japanese sellers (all)prefer do not ship overseas.

Plus they don't know much english which is why I'm kinda confused as to how this partnership will work. It will give more competition on price listing of keitais on ebay but at the sametime there's so much restrictions still =/

ebay is super expensive right now. You're better off buying from yahoo japan auctions.

Weight it out....if you think that you can win the bids on Ebay without hitting a certain amount then bid there o.O (snipe i mean) Other wise get from YJA since it will definitely be cheaper. But then depending on commission and shipping the prices will be pretty close. So basically if your going to snipe bid then go for Ebay because you can probably win the phone at around 460 - 520. Where as all the Buy Now prices are like 550 - 650.

What I mean is the winning bid on Ebay is quite close to the YJA price after you pay the middleman's fees and combine that with shipping....plus ebay is probably faster in terms of shipping so you have to ask yourself are you willing to settle for saving maybe 10 - 50 dollars and wait a long time. or pay that 10 - 50 dollars more and have your phone faster.

D: This is what happens when I am deprived of sleep I make contradictions to myself.......screw it I'm not going to edit it lol >_>

ps. I would love that international deal with with YJA and ebay to work O_O think of the savings of cutting the middleman.......althought I would think that everyone that joins that program would just inflate up to the ebay price -_-

hit the nail right on the head.

well 50 might sound little compared to the value that the keitais are being sold at... but 50 bucks... think of what you can do... it's quite a bit. I think the difference would be more like 50 bucks. Also, you can take the opportunity to ask the seller to tag on any accessories you need (eg: dock + charger + protection + earphones) and they can prolly ship you the offical docomo stuff rather than having to go through all the hassle and adding them later which will contribute to more shipping cost.

Well, like my other post stated it's more of a issue of do you want it faster and pay extra or not pay the extra amount and wait longer.

Essentially its your choice. lol So yea weight it out =/

>_> Of course for Keitai addicts for us YJA is too slow! lol XD and we tend to burn more money on keitais =/

wrong. you will have to look around yahoo japan auctions for your accessories thus contributing more to the shipping and commission costs. unless the accessories are already included with the phone

hmm.. true except what my point is you're able to find the actual accessories and you know they're authentic. For example, you can't find the offical docomo headphones on ebay.

just remember that it all adds up in the end. you're paying for: the item, the shipping to their place, their fees (comission, bank, and paypal), and shipping to your house. yes its true you can get the official accessories but as i said before, you cant just ask the seller. for example, if you did the math, an sh905i dock can almost easily match an ebay price with the grand total.

my advice is along with weighing out the positives and negatives, see if you can do a number crunch on all the fees associated with buying the phone and try to compare the grand total to the ebay total. then you will have your answer more or less. unless the phone cant be found on ebay

well you're thinking of yahoo japan auctions... but there's also other services where they can buy stuff for you in Japan (not auction) and so you can also go with that alternative. Since they're going to buy for you in person at a store, it cuts down the shipping and so you might be able to save some $$

but isnt that what this is about? were talking about yahoo japan auctions vs. ebay. either way, that fee breakdown still applies for a third-party except you dont have to bid. and that service u mentioned sounds semi-illegal and what happened to softbank thus having them put a 6-month ban on their newer models

Well you lose the local shipping charge so you can save a bit. If you were to talk about legitimacy then we're all doing illegal stuff cause these Japanese phones aren't made for us to use anyways and we are using illegal methods to break their protection system and use for our own purposes. In this case, even bidding through YAJ with a middle man is illegal.

Posted by: takumi906

im not going to get into "whats more illegal than the other". we've already established the situation of ebay vs. third party so lets leave it at that. i dont want you to take this the wrong way but have you actually used a third party before to buy keitai? im not saying one is better than the other but each have their own positives (ex: dealing with one person vs dealing with 3+).
