Unlocked ATT Centro Questions

Just wondering if anyone has bought an ATT unlocked centro and if you were able to change proxy settings to work with the $5.99 tmobile data plan. I did a quick search about it and came upon a thread that says branded unlocked phones sometimes do not allow you to change proxy settings. I am looking for a palm to use on T-mobile but wanted to make sure that I will be able to change the proxy settings. Thanks.

I dunno about the Centro but I used a Treo 650 about a year ago on Tmobile and not only did the Treo work with it but it auto configured itself for it...

hmmm... yeah I am just concerned about being able to change the proxy settings on it. I read in another thread that since the original phone was branded for att they have locked the proxy settings for att even when you unlock it or something like that. I am kinda a noob to phones, so I want to make sure i don't buy the phone and end up not getting what i want, haha

So hows the phone?

Sorry, they sent a 650 and not the Centro so I don't know. I'm kinda glad since and went to the AT&T store and played with it after ordering is and I hated the keyboard. They offered to let me keep the 650 for dirt cheap so I don't think I'll find out. I did check the Centro at the store and it had the proxy option in the web browser. Also the 650 has the same option and I tried it with the $5.99 plan and it woked just fine/ Don't know whu the Centro wouldn't be the same... Hope that helps.

Thanks, yeah I was just concerned because I read in another thread which I think the person was trying to say that an branded unlocked phone will still not have all the options unlocked. I read in treocentral that the network settings were locked on a unlocked att centro, but he was still able to access the proxy settings. I just wanted to make sure before I make the purchase

There is absolutely no problem using an unlocked AT&T Centro on T-Mobile with tzones for $5.99. It's no different than any other unlocked/unbranded phone. Use the T-Mobile wireless configurator (search for it after logging into your MyTMobile page) to have the settings sent to your phone.
