I've had 2 Nokia 6682's, an N95 and an N75, and the reception of my BB's are at least equal, if not better than the Nokias. I think the Curve has a slight edge over the Pearl. Build quality is excellent, I also use Opera (4.1) as my main browser. I can't answer about the Word/Excel/Powerpoint, since my main use is email/browsing. I'm sure someone will chime in.

I personally know you can view Word, Excel and PDF files. Note this is an "attachment service" which means that the viewers are not programs on the phone - they utilize BlackBerry's servers to interpret the pages and download them into custom viewers on the phone. I do not believe you can edit documents at all natively.

With that being said, I heard about an installable program which adds editing of those files. I think the name is called Doc2Go or something like that.

The release of OS4.5 (whenever that will be) will also include the ability to view and edit Word/PPT/PDF files.

Word is the 9000 is gonna supposedly be out in July. So if you're interested in it, I'd wait. Since you have an N75 you might be interested in the 9100 because its a flip. I'm looking forward to it, cause the 9000 is little too big for my taste. Hopefully 4.5 will be out soon, and we can all enjoy the new features. I think the Curve is just about the perfect size for a "qwerty" phone. Pick one up, I really think you'll love it.

These are the things that keep RIM from being a good solution for casual mobile users, especially the consumer market IMO. Not that consumers have a need to edit Office docs, but that RIM keeps building upon an email device when they should completely redesign the devices to appeal to these markets (and, rare I say, the enterprise market as well).

why fix whats not broken. RIM has made too much money to make drastic changes now

Because if we didn't fix what wasn't broken, we'd still be sitting around doing log tables by hand, improvement benefits everybody involved.

Hi Richy240

Maybe you haven't noticed this is exactly what Rim have been doing with their new devices and an upgraded OS.

As i am in the UK the lack of 3G/HSDPA was a major obstacle for me but with the Bold that is solved and with WiFi it has all that i need. It now comes with Doc's to Go so even with a small upgrade Documents are no longer a problem. The screen although only 2.5" is going to 480X320 and from all the reports seems to be one of the best on any device. The Media player has been improved and also now includes support for H.264 as well as Divix as well as being able to sync music from iTunes straight to it. I really don't see any area it is now lacking in and in some area's it is better than most if not all.

The Bold will be my first BB and I'm looking forward to having a new OS to try and it really does have all that i want in a device. How i get on it with it only time will tell.

Marc
