Free TeleNAV??

I'm looking around at some feature codes today and came across something intresting (at least for those of us with GPS capable phones).
I found a feature code that adds Unlimited TeleNAV for free. AN00 is the feature code for Telenav, but it costs $9.99/Month. On the other hand AN31 ads unlimited NAV for $0.00/Month. My question is this; why would anyone pay $10/month for NAV when it's offered for free. Second question; can I add this to a customers account? I mean it's a valid code isn't it? There aren't any listed restrictions or anything, so why offer something for $10, then offer the very same thing for free? What's the catch? I called up CS (pretending to be a customer) and they don't know a thing about it. I called up again pretending to be my friend who has a consumer plan, and asked the CSR to remove the TeleNAV which he pays for, and replace it with the free NAV. They resisted at first but I told them it's a valid/active feature and eventually he "pretended" to speak to a supervisor and reluctantly added it. What's the story with this feature? Some clarification would be greatly apreciated.

I have never seen the code nor would I ever added it to an account as we do advertise it for at 9.99 for unlimited usage. To be perfectly blunt, I would have never added to the account and would have brought my manager online if a customer continues to give me push back and repeatedly ask for a manager. I am not trying to sound like a jerk, but it may not be the full feature. I know that when it is added on, it provides a prorated month, plus the next full month for free and then it starts to charge after the trial period. So maybe it is just the code for the trial period and it will drop off the account after that.

That's the promotional soc; so in 30 days time the account will auto revert to AN01 or AN00.

you would be correct, you are supposed to be putting the free telenav on when you sell it because our promotion is "free for the first 30 days"

When you activate the AN01 code it also puts the AN00 code on for the first month for the free trial. As a stand-alone feature code, I don't think it will work...like previously posted, it will probably only last one month.

The feature should be auto added when telenav is added to the account. There should be no need to have to add the trial feature on.

so what if we just add the free version? does it auto revert to the $9/99 one, or does it just stop working? Or maybe it just sits there and stays free?

It auto reverts to the $9.99 one. No, it does not sit there and stay free. Good try though.

AN00 is $9.99 MRC for Telenav MAPS, not full blown Turn-by-Turn, AN01 is Navigator. I put AN00 on a customer's account, then downloaded the app, it was the crippled maps app. Uninstalled, changed SOC to AN01, AN32 got added along with it, then downloaded the app again, and it was full blown Nav.

true indeed on that one.

Because if you put the free SOC on certain phones, usually I run into this problem with Blackberry's... When you try to send the service books, it'll only register for maps, or it won't send the text message with the PIN.

Hmm, well thanks for the information, I apreciate the clarification

Have any of you tried google maps? It's free and sometimes beats attnav...

Just my two cents.

I have both on my COU. Telenav has a few nice features that GMaps doesn't, like putting up the exact address of your GPS position, voice turn-by-turn, and logging multiple landmarks with your choice of names on them.

Search Along, GoogleMaps doesn't have that.

Also, Gas by Price; where's that on GoogleMaps?

AN01; adds the 30 day trial, but AN00 is not ATTMAPS as previously stated; it's just the non-promo soc.

Add AN01, don't worry about adding AN00.

Yep, but for some reason we've had trouble in our store if we add the AN00 code instead of the AN01 code. It only downloads Maps, not Navigator. After about 45 minutes of troubleshooting a customers Pearl 2 with AN00, I switched the code to AN01 and it worked instantly. Who know why.
