I just got this phone new this week. It's a new old stock leftover model that was still sealed in shrink wrap. I got a factory USB data cable SKN 6371. I have the 2nd verison of the firmware. I installed this as per Mark Venture's instructions: Handset_USB_Driver_32_v3[1].5.0 off the link he gave to get the newest USB drivers. Eveything else on the USB cable seems to work find except when I launch the Advanced P2K Seem edit SD it says it's not connected. If I didn't have a factory USB cable I could see this. But this is an OEM cable. I have loaded up Motorola Phone tools to make sure everything on reading the phone was working fine and it is. Someone have a possible solution(s) to this? Thanks.

Andy

You need to use P2k Commander for CDMA phones. The one you were using is for GSM phones.

You need to run MSU (Motorola Software Update) or PST
in the background in order for P2K Seem or P2K Commander
to be able to connect to your phone.

You should take a few minutes to READ MORE at Mark's pages...

for example -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V710_SeemEdit.htm

which does state, MSU or PST must be running in order for P2KSeem for V710 to connect.

Additionally... If you do have a V3C.. -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/1-USBDriver.htm has some interesting info... suggesting that rather than using those from the MotoDev page, you instead use those included with MSU...

I have a few v710's, and I'm running MST in the back w/ Advanced P2K Seem Editor. Its reading connected. I am trying to find the simple step by step instructions for loacating the SPC, Security, and User Lock Codes. Especially the User Lock Code. I have a bunch come in from Bulk Warehouses and they are user locked before it even gets to main page. I also have soem that are feature locked. They are all 4 digit codes, not the last 4 of the phone number or 1234, 0000. Could someone please give me some info on this? Thanx in Advance!!!

SPC on the E815, V3C, K1M and V9M is located in SEEM 0055. Not sure if its the same...

I'd have to search for the others... KBMan posts them often enough.. you'd think I would have written them down by now

Also, if you are using up too many system resources running MSU or PST in the background, you don't have to run those. Follow these directions:

1. Type ##33284
2. CLR+Left Soft
3. Right Soft until you get to a screen with some options
4. Go down to USB MODE and Left Soft until it says P2K
5. Plug In; if it doesn't work then repeat.
Oh, and Mark, you might oughtta put that in your "Holy" pages. Not all of us have 4 gigs of RAM and a dual core processor.
