Htc Touch Diamon Price Officially Announced

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ok guys, would like to tell you that finally HTC officially announced the price for its coming Touch Diamond and it'll be selling in Hong Kong for about $728 and it would differ from region to another till it reaches $772..

I think the price is amazingly expensive, as i said before in another thread it's like double the price of a usual iphone with only slight difference in specs (3G,GPS) while only 4GB of space which is half the memory space for an iphone....

That's Crazy.... i can get an Xperia X1 (3G, GPS and awesome camera with 3 inch screen) for $300 (as rumors said),along with an ipod touch 16GB (for music, videos and alot other iphone applications) for $350.... which will be a sum of $650, meaning a $100 less than a Touch Diamond....

The Xperia X1 is only going to be $300? That is insanely cheap, that phone looks amazing.

The price HTC is charging for their phones is ridiculous. The Cruise is around 700.00. For another 150you can get the X7501 which is 10x better than the Cruise. Until HTC lowers their prices I won't be buying from them.
The only way you'll get the X1 for 300 is if it's subsidized, & even then I think it will be more.

X1 is going to be similarly prized with the diamond. I don't know how can some people believe the $300 rumors....I don't care where they heard that from. Be real people.

expansys isnt a company that anyone should be buying from, their prices are at least 3x what they should be.

the tytn can be had for about $250 yet expansys $750, does that sound right to you? no.. dont even buy from those crooks

anyways there is no way in hell the experia is going to be $300 without a plan. its at least a $700 along with the TyTN II if not more.

its probably $300 with a 3yr plan and some rediculous data plan.

official pricing with a two year contract has not been released and nor has it **** the shelves. so calm down people.

I wont pay more than $400 unsubsidized, so this will be out of my range...I'm glad there are no HTC stores for me to play with one and say screw my range Damn Sony/Nokia stores at the Galleria Dallas.

I'm hoping that you right, I did a survey of U.K. stores and found that their pre-order average was closer to $900, $960 is you add in the dock. Mobile Planet just today raised their single-unit pre-order price to $919.95. They ship their unlocked HTC phones out of Hong Kong, so lower prices in Hong Kong might translate to lower prices in the U.S.

Of course, if the re-sellers keep raising the price of the Diamond at the rate they have over the last month, the unlocked price could be well north of $1K by the time it's officially available. Yikes!

IMO that is not worth it. At most the HTC Touch Diamomd should be $500.

The X1 will not be $300 even if a carrier picks it up, when first released it will be around the $1200-$1000 mark, then come down a bit to $800-$700, just look at the patteren of all SE Smart phones. The horrible P990 still sells for around $400-$350.

OP, if your sources say the X1 is going to be $300, I fail to believe the Diamond is $700+.

/Thread fail.

Wow, the diamond simply cannot compete with the iphone at that price. very unfortunate...

HTC really likes sticking it to their customers with first the 'bird' for no drivers in the Kaiser, and then the same again with the Diamond but at the same outrageous price again!

Posted by: burgertime

I agree anything over 600 is just ludicrous. There is also no way the X1 will be 300 that is just not going to happen. I'll wait for a year when the price falls to around 400 for the Diamond.

Posted by: RileyFreeman

why do people say its cheaper than the iphone? the iphones price is mandatory with a 2 year contract. so signing ur life away for 2 years doesnt that make it more expensive. plus all the control applehas with their only one per customer crap.

300 for an xperia ur dreaming. what smartphone cost 300$ period.

the unlocked unbranded device is pretty strandard.

htc kaiser, nokia n95, why is everyone so surpriseD?

They always come out overpriced for the people who have to have it first (if you were a stock holder, you wouldn't mind) and then the price levels off after 6 months or so. I optimistically predict it will be about $600 to $650 next year. Like the Touches can be bought now for like $300 new now. They were what, $550 when they came out? My P3300 averaged $600 last year when I bought it (I found one for $535, cheapest I could find) and now you can get them for $400. You'd want to wait until they work the bugs out of this model anyway.

you can't compare the Iphone with any of the HTC phones. The Iphone is just an Ipod with a phone feature, while all HTC's are "all in one gadgets"... and the pricing is not unreasonable - think of it this way, as the Diamond comprises of the following features, and the average price for something similar on a standalone basis:

3G cellphone - $300
4gb MP3 player - $150
GPS - $150
PDA - $150

Hello,

Problem is the unlocked diamond comming out next month is only triband (not 850Mhz), and not compatible with north america high speed networks... This is the european verszion...

Which it mean it will only work on the 1900 Mhz, and, for datas, just EDGE...

The norh american version of this beauty will not hit the shelves by the end of the summer...

Exactly, the iPhone is really little more than a phone + MP3 player rolled into one.

They are sorely lacking in terms of robust hardware features, and software wise, they are about as dry as a desert.

HTC Touch Diamond vs. Apple iPhone etc. http://smape.com/en/reviews/htc/Diamond_iPhone_etc.html

I'm only getting it if it comes out for T-Mobile, otherwise buying it is just stupid, it's not worth that amount, just simply isn't. Especially without expandable memory OR a FULL KEYBOARD!

i fully agree !

That is pretty unrealistic! Plus with the 3G iPhone already expected for early June - if they're thinking they're going to snatch customers away from Apple - with that kind of price...they all need a reality re-adjustment.

I may have to re-think picking one up for myself too.

Well it's just rumored.. but the 3G Iphone should have GPS and .. 3G.. so there are your hardware faults. They will be at least 8GB (4 more than the Diamond) if not 16 and 32GB. The software is an easily resolvable issue as there is more software being developed through web apps and installable apps through jailbreak, not to mention the official app store comes out in June.

As far as needing a PDA exchange support is confirmed, meaning that the iphone should sync contacts, calendar, notes wirelessly (and it can already do this through Itunes).

Believe me, I used to be a big detractor of Apple when the Iphone was released, but through the jailbreak community and Apple itself a lot of those negative ideas towards the iphone are false now.

I am actually VERY surprised at the pricing by HTC. Especially as the phone does not have any expansion slots on a smart phone. Programs and the occasional music alone will have you pushing the limit of the 4GB and then you look at it and realized you paid close to 4 times what you would to get a 4gb Iphone and it just seems very .. wrong.

I do love the new UI... not an extra $400 more.. but it is really slick
