Bluetooth different on curve vs pearl?

I am able to send a tone from my macbbook to my pearl but not my curve. Tried 4 different times too.
Using the same method. Media>my ringtones>receive using bluetooth. ON computer go to send file via bluetooth. It starts the process, stops to ask where I wanna place it, I leave it where it says and click ok. Then it says connection failed.
Anyone know what gives?
