Blackberry Novice

Alright, here's my situation.
I've got a year left to my contract with Bell Mobility (Canada) and I want to try out a Blackberry. I don't want to spend much: about 50 or 60 dollars max. I'm going to buy it used or refurbished (a Bell phone, or it won't work!).
Thing is, I don't have a clue which models came out when, or which I should truly stay away from! I'm looking at eBay.
If any of you could help me out I'd be really grateful!
It would mainly be used as a regular ol' phone, and then maybe I'd get a small data plan just for email. Basically, before I get an iPhone in a year from now, I want to see what a BlackBerry can offer.

Thank you!

I don't think there is a model that you should stay away from. I don't know exactly what Bell has offered. The 8830 is more of a business oriented phone as it doesn't have a camera. I would go with the Pearl or the Curve. I have a Pearl and I love it. I've only handled a Curve at the local Alltel store but it's pretty nice too. If I were you, I would go into a store and see which one you like better before buying one on eBay. The main differences; do you want a smaller device, SureType keyboard, and smaller screen (Pearl), or a larger device, full QWERTY keyboard, and larger screen (Curve). And really, if you buy a BlackBerry now and have it for a year, I predict you'll be disappointed in the iPhone. Not only will it be a several year old phone by then, but a lot of people (including myself) don't even consider it a smartphone.

Thanks for the reply!
I absolutely abhor the pearl, it's unintuitive and way too 'plasticy'.
But I wouldn't get that anyways, seeing as I want something really cheap.
No to curve, then. I'll be keeping my Razr so Basically I just want to test the waters as far as blackberry is concerned. Also, the iPhone has already been decided. It is by far the perfect phone for me. I had one for a little while and loved it. I keep wishing my iPod touch were a phone!
The Blackberry debate I am having with myself is the 7250 vs the 8703e.
I've done some research, so the fact that the 7250 is older doesn't bother me... but is it that much bigger?
I have a few things I'd like to do with it, and please bear in mind that I have a Mac:
-calendar syncing with iCal
-email syncing/checking (I have an imap account)
-contacts syncing

I guess that's pretty much it. Then I would perhaps do things like check the weather, etc.
Can all this be done with a 7250?
I could get one for less than $40... I haven't come across any good deals on a 8703e yet...

Bell's newest model is the 8330. They have the 8830, and the 8130. I think you can still get the 8703 but its an older model.

As far as which one to choose I think it boils down to the 8130,8330, and 8830. Size and keyboard are the only differences in a nutshell.

No offense, but you guys aren't listening. I'm not getting it new. I'm not renewing my contract. I just wanted an old Blackberry to test out what it feels like to have one...

Wirelessly posted (HTC Wizard: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) PPC; 240x320; HTC_P3600i/1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

The 87xx series were great, if you can get a deal on one, I'd whole heartedly recommend it to you.

I'm listening. I just can't help out with the older BBs. The Pearl is the first that I have owned.
