I just got my new 580i from AT&T and I would like to do couple of modding with it. However, I do not know where to start. So I post a few question to help me get started:
1. Do I need to unbrand the phone to be able to mod it?
2. What program that I need to mod the phone? I only want to mod the phone so that I can use custom ringtone and install a new theme or wallpaper.
3. After I install the recommended program to mod the phone, how do I install the new ringtone, new sms ringtone, new theme, and wallpaper.

I am completely new at this. Please help me!!!!

I don't think you need to debrand the w580 with cingular/att in order to get mp3's and themes on it.

You can bluetooth the themes, ringtones, etc. to it from your computer. Or you can use the Datacable to transfer the files right to it.

You can use your own mp3's as long as they are under 300kb. If you want to use anything bigger than that, you will need to debrand it.

You can install themes and wallpapers as mentioned above. If you want flash menu themes, you will need to debrand it.

If you want to debrand it, search on HowardForums for DavinciTeam or WotanServer. You will find the answers in those threads.

Can you explain what "flash menu themes" mean?

Go on youtube and search for sony flash menu themes.
It's basically your menu in a .swf format that looks fancy.
