MP3's on Verizon Curve 8330

Is the media player different on the Curve 8330 than on the 8830? I would really like to upgrade to a device that can double as a decent MP3 player so that I only have to carry around one device. The Curve 8330 can handle the 8gb memory card now too, right?

I have an 8GB in my Curve and it's all recognized, so yes it can handle it. I heard anything before OS 4.3 can't create play lists, and mine can. So that is an improved function already. Not sure what else there is regarding the media player.
