First off, yes i read all the pages on how to do it, with the computer, but what i don't see if a way to do it with the mp3 files already on my sd card in the phone, so i gather you have to use the computer to move it around to the right place? I have audicity to make my own tones, just waiting to find out if it can be done without the cable.
