How do set mp3 files as ringtones for a V9 Razr that have been placed on the phone through an microSD card?

Thre is a size limit on a ringtone. You have to crop the song down to around 30 seconds before it will apply. You can do it with motorola phone tools.

The only action u need to take is: convert the MP3 to m4a format, & place them in your SD with P2KCommander in B/Mobile/Sounds/ directory !

On my SD card there are folders: DCIM, Media, motorola, and music. So none of these are what you told me to put the file in.

MP4 files will work as ringtones, not MP3

morningglory - Create the Directories I have mentioned on your SD:
"SD"/Mobile/Sounds/your converted m4a ringtones..

I tried using songs from iTunes because those are already in the m4a format. I put them under Sounds when I connected my phone but it didn't work. What else can I do?

M4A is not MP4.
This is what I do, on a regular basis...
1. use a torrent site or something and download Total Audio Converter.
2. Use audacity to cut the MP3 up as you wish (So far, I've had minute long, 1MB ringtones and they apply fine).
3. After you have cut the MP3 up, open Total Audio Converter and convert the MP3 to an MP4.
4. Once thats done, just stick them on your microSD (without using p2k just open your phones drive when you plug it into your computer and stick them in the Music folder)

Done, applyable.
