I'm starting to get that "new phone" itch again

Had the iPhone for about 10 months now. Getting a little bored with it. The web access and email is great but I can't sync Lotus Notes contacts or calendar (actually it can be done but isn't worth the hassle).

I'll wait for iPhone 2 but unless I can get a price break and it solves my current issues (weak speaker phone, lack of sync, etc) I will be looking at BB or HTC.

Keeping my fingers crossed for good news from Apple next week.

LEts just hope the Iphone 3g will be something different, not just upgrade.

Thats funny cowboy, we are talking about the same thing in the s60 forums. i think we all get bored here and there until we try something different and realize, why did i do it unless its an updated iphone or s60 for me.

Yep...we are what we are, phone folks. We have a strange combination of OCD & ADD...and we get bored quickly with what would last most people over a year. I mean, I see people all day every day just as happy as they can be with their 3-year old Razr...and I get bored with a new phone in a couple of months and start looking for another phone "hit"!!

I am prepared to give Apple another chance...if the Gen-2 iPhone is really something special, and is radically different. But...then again, I am also looking at the new BlackBerry 9000 Bold, and the much-rumored and long awaited Nokia E71 (I want to give S60 another shot) as well. We'll see...

But I definately have the itch too...

Man do you know how hard is to hold out for a new phone ive had iphone for about 8 months and im needing something new

I went through that phase a couple of times and ended right back up with an iphone. I tried the N95-NAM and the Tilt. Both were cool, but once you have those phones for a few months, you start to miss your iPhone. I guess with me anyway. I like to text surf and check email more than anything and the iPhone does that the best IMO

I'm looking to try the iPhone 2 as well

I have set an all time record for myself, since I have had the iPhone since second day of release. The ONLY reason I still have it is NOTHING compares to how smooth the iphone operates. I am however curious about the new Samsung Instinct and HTC Diamond that are coming out as well as the rumored 3g iphone. I do have a itch, and it will have to be scratched one way or another.

My "to do" list:

1. iPhone 3G, Gen. 2 or whatever it's supposed to be called.
2. Blackberry Bold (9000)
3. Nokie N96.

That's a lot of clothes I can't buy....But aww well!

Lol, there's soo many phones like Bold, iPhone 2, E71, X1, Diamond, N96 that are expected to come this summer! Gota SAVE!

The Diamond is out already, I think.

The 3G iPhone isn't the big news.

It's the 2.0 Software release that is supposed to be the big deal.

I'm PRAYING that Apple will have an exchange program for the new iPhone.

Trade in your old iPhone and get $150 credit towards the new 3G iPhone.

Posted by: Anisoul

That's really wishful thinking. I think that part of the reason they pulled the old ones off of shelves; to avoid the return rush.

I'm almost getting it too, just in time for 3G!

i have set a record also, but with the n95 and all its variants, i to am waiting on the iphone 3g to see what it offers, and i have tried phones inbetween, iphone, tilt, bl2 and treo 750, all good in there own right but nothing gives me the full spectrum like the n95, i guess if i had the iphone 1st i would have felt that way also.

I came awfully close to pulling the trigger on a N95-4 yesterday...but finally came out of the ether enough to realize that the things I personally disliked about the N95-1 had not been improved on the "-4"...so I decided to save my money. The N95 is an amazingly feature packed phone...and may be too feature packed, as far as I'm concerned. But, I know you love the phone...as well as do others, and that's all that matters.

If Apple just tightens up some of the loose ends as far as missing functionality, and improves the mobile phone aspect of the iPhone...then it might be enough to hook me again, and possibly even convert me from my current infatuation with BlackBerry.

But...with a giant jump in processor speed, more onboard memory, larger brighter screen, upgraded OS and the 3G/WiFi/GPS combination to boot...the BlackBerry Bold is going to be a hard act to beat.

We'll see...

owning an iPhone has been a great experiance for me also. I've never owned a phone longer than an iPhone, got it September 10, i have had an itch and got the Tilt, but i missed my iphone whenever i never used it. I am very interested in the next gen iphone, actually that will be my next phone for sure. But I must admit that even though I said i would never buy one, BB are looking pretty sweet to me lately. But the first phone i'm getting it the second gen iphone for sure.

Boo-frickin-hoo, you poor babies and your 10 month old iPhones. I've had the TREO 700W (no, NOT the WX) for 30 MONTHS waiting for a decent replacement. I think the 3g iPhone may finally be it. Now THAT is some pain, my brothers!

Props to you man.

Yeah, I promised that I'd wait and see and possibly get the iPhone about 1-2 months later.

Hogwash, I say, I'll be camped out in line just like the rest and will definitely be one of the first this time.

Vi-va la iPhone.........

I think refreshing the lineup creates that inch and addiction to always try the latest and greatest. Like candy. More repeat busniess for the manufacturers. It happens even with iPods too.

Even I can admit the novelty wears off with my current phone. I can get a phone just for style and I'll get bored of that too eventually if it lacks some key features.

Places like GSMArena and Phonescoop make me jealous about newer phones that it makes it tough to what we have now, and what we are yearning for the future....

Well now that iPhone 3G has been revealed I can start to try to decide what I am going to get. I'll probably end up getting that but it will still have maddening limitations. I think Android may be the answer on the software side. It should be ported to almost everything. It's the hardware that's trickier. Hmm now that I think about it, will Android be ported to the iPhone? That may be the best of both worlds. iPhone hardware with fully configurable, do-anything-you-want software. I suppose putting Android on an iPhone will be a lot hardware than unlocking/jailbreaking.

What would be the best alternative right now? And, based on what's coming, in say six months? The BB Bold looks interesting but I really don't need a hard keyboard. Cost isn't a huge factor but I don't want to pay more than $30 per month for unlimited 3G data.

This is my "must have" list:

- QWERTY (on-screen preferred but hard ok)
- great screen (I can live with 2.8" but bigger is better)
- great browser (is Opera Mini really the only other game in town?)
- great 3rd party app support
- decent battery life, or at least a swappable battery
- 8GB memory (built in or card)
- easy Lotus Notes calendar sync.
- GPS isn't "must have" but sure would be nice
