How disappointed will you be...

Apple never officially said if the new iphone was coming on June 9th. How disappointed will you be if the new iphone isn't released on June 9th?

Posted by: rockyjr

Not at all. Now if 2.0 not released by month end, I will be disappointed about that.

I doubt that it will be released on the 9th. Im sure it will be announced on the 9th, but my guess is that it will be available on thursday or friday of that week.

Posted by: motormouth2416

I think it will take a bit of time before it's released. Apple will want an even greater media hype, and they will also want to release every possible detail about their god-like device.

Posted by: BeyondTheTech

I think the media outlets will undoubtedly cover the WWDC and I'm confident the new iPhone will be out on the 9th. It's been long enough for Apple not to have any iPhones in stock, and the unnecessary build up of a week is, well, unnecessary. Again, this is not like it's the first time the iPhone is being released. It's basically being updated, and re-released simultaneously in multiple countries, and now with third-party software development.

Posted by: mmmartin

I will be VERY disappointed! I sold my iPhone last week in preparation for the new one, so I'm going crazy without it! I'm using an old SE S710 & it just isn't cutting it...

Posted by: BeyondTheTech

That's nothing. I sold mine on May 13... I'm almost going a month soon without an iPhone. I'm using my SIM card in a $5 Pantech C120 GoPhone and I'm going nucking futs already.

Posted by: Anisoul

Why do you say such things? HUH! WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHY!

Posted by: XanderMac

It'll go on sale June 29th.

That's Sunday...I was thinking the same thing but I highly doubt they will release on a Sunday.

Posted by: DaRtHXtC

I think it will be released the 9th or shortly there after. (At the latest Friday the 13th ) So I won't be disappointed at all.

I agree with you. I think it will be announced on the 9th and then it will go on sale possible on the internet on the 9th and then will start being sold in stores after the 9th. But you never know. The reason I say this is becuase if it where to go on sale on the 9th I would think the stores would get the stuff in by at least friday of this week. But I could be wrong. We all shall see.

Still no FCC approval.
No FCC approval=no phone....quite simple.

I think if it doesn't get announced or released next week it will be hilarious to come here to HoFo and see all the dorks complain that that sold their s**t a month beforehand in anticipation of the new phone that does not exist at this point. I am waiting with baited breath for the first post from said dork talking about how they want to get a mob together to sue Apple for something because the phone wasn't released when they wanted it to be released. Call me crazy, but that's funny.

Uh, because we can't see it on the FCC website doesn't mean anything. Companies can request the documents be hidden. If companies couldn't hide their future products, then no company would be able to surprise anyone. Think about it.

it's be speculcated the Apple may have asked the FCC to keep the approval secret which, apparently, is legal.

Posted by: Quake97

I'm hoping for an announcement and release on the 9th. However, realistically, I think it'll be announced on the 9th and released some time later.

You're more of a man than I am. My iPhone is just in repair and I have a Motorola c187 that i've been using since Monday and i've already had the urge to throw out the window twice for being a overall piece of crap.

So glad I get my iPhone back today.

I miss it, I didn't realize how much I take it for granted.

On the subject of the 3G iPhone release date- I would like it to be out ASAP, but if not, I'm not going to cry.

Posted by: andrewhaji

If Apple doesn't at least announce the 3G iPhone at WWDC, expect their stock to plunge considerably. I can foresee at least a $50 drop before the end of the day. Trust me, there will be a 3G iPhone at WWDC.

Posted by: TheGSRGuy

Why isn't this part of the 3G iPhone thread?

Posted by: wookiee2cu

Companies can request that the information be held for 90 days I think it was (could have been 60) so that fact that the FCC hasn't released anything doesn't mean anything.

Most articles have made it very clear that the iPhone was going to be announced on the 9th, which most people assumed it will be released shortly after so the OP's statement seems off. My bet is it will be released on the 19th.

Posted by: Russpauly

Why? Why would you even think of such a thing? The thought of this happening kills me a little bit inside. It hurts, o god it hurts.

Not cool man, not cool.

Posted by: jasontse

i think we've all waited long enough.... what's another 2 weeks? LOL

Posted by: BeyondTheTech

It's bad enough that they moved the new Star Trek movie to May 8, 2009. Talk about delays and delays and waits and waits. Perhaps I should do things, like GET A LIFE!

Posted by: Ryan1524

I'll be fine. Still happy with my current iPhone. I just want them to announce something to strike RIM head-on.

Posted by: pathy5025

I'm with you guys, I've been back to my blackjack for about a month now. About the only thing it does well is orb and exchange. Unlike that other thread, my BJ has left me frustrated, confused, angry, and sad.

Posted by: thadoggfather

I sold my iPhone about 2 months ago. Can't wait to see what this one has to offer.

I believe that they were able to prove some time ago that there is an inverse correlation between getting laid and going to star wars movies.

I love seeing all the geeks waiting in line for the star wars and star trek movies....that Triumph the Insult comic dog piece from the star wars opening a few years back was priceless!!!

I don't believe there is a such thing as a FCC gag order. It would simply beat the partial purpose of it.

As to someones remark about devices not being able to be kept secret because of it, thats exactly that.

There is a reason why there is "leaked" info before any radio device is released.
Just go and check the FCC submition page and you'd be suprised how much info about unreleased new devices is on there...if you are willing to dig.

As for Apple:
I can't imagine that they wouldn't give themself enough reworking time in case FCC doesn't approve their device.
Wouldn't be a first time FCC said no.

Well 9th is not that far along now....we'll see soon enough.

Actually.. you will find on numerous sites, including the fcc.gov site that they do, in fact, accept "confidentiality" request from companies submitting products for certification. They can actually request "short term confidentiality" in 45 day increments up to 180 days. Now the companies have pay for, and justify this request, and any part or all of it can be turned down a the FCC's discretion.

Anywho..I for one am looking forward to monday for the first time in a year..

Posted by: davistld01

I am standing by and waiting to see what is announced...and if the iPhone-2 is a radical imrovement or not from the current ("old"?) model. Having had several of the current model...I kinda lost interest. But...if the new phone rocks for real, I'll give Apple another chance and pick one up.

But, I probably won't be an early adopter. I'll wait and lurk around here to see how buggy it is, and what is jacked up...if anything is at all. When the smoke clears...then I'll buy.

You are right about the submittal part, however he approval has to be public.

I'm with you though...really want to see what happens Monday.

I'm hoping by months end. Though I'm really wishing June 9th. I just don't see apple making it available so soon right after revealing it. The last iPhone was revealed months before we got our hands on it. I hope its no later than the end of the month and not like october or something. Thats why I didn't sell my original yet. I want to be sure its coming and that I can get my hands on one.

Posted by: Jayden0606

I will guess, July 9th release! Muahaha!

very true. apple hasnt been selling the iphone on their website for a month now there has to be a good reason. i say june 9

Posted by: Techno

if it was going on sale the 9th...wouldn't there have been some pictures of shipping containers posted by now :-)

Posted by: Silent Witness

Not at all. Will wait until October for it anyway once they refresh the iPod Touch lineup. Apple might even lower the price by then. Plus, I will be waiting for it to be hacked.

LATEST RUMOR:
Jewish sources close to Steve Jobs revealed that the iPhone 2 (aka Mishiach) will be released on the Shavu'ot, Monday, June 9, 2008 (year 5768 for the Chosen People). It is currently being mass-produced at Hon Hai's Brooklyn-based facility under the supervision of Rabbi Moshe "Bubba" Chang for proper kosher certification. Upcoming iPhone 2 commercials will feature major Hollywood celebrities, such as Sacha Baron Cohen of "Borat" fame (only recently identified as the unnamed actor that was filming at the 5th Avenue Apple Store in NYC), Israeli-born actress Natalie Portman (scheduled to film in Europe early next week), and Jewish Filipino comedian-actor Rob Schneider (shooting completed on location in Hawaii). Walt Mossberg was recently spotted with a prototype of the iPhone 2. Asked how his 3G experience has been with it, he responded, "Oy, a mecheieh! Don't shlep, you better get your tuchas over to an Apple store Monday morning for one big megillah of an international launch."

Posted by: TDBearCT

Now THAT was Funny!

Seriously, I'll but an iPhone 2 when they become available as refurbished units. By then, most of the bugs should have been worked out and a successful jailbreak/unlock should be available.

wowwwwwwwwwww dude....

give me some lotto numbers to play. good prediction.

sorry to all you other guys over the wait. next time dont sell your phone until the new one comes. take the loss.

btw, the only thing i really got excited about the keynote was the push notification feature being released to developers in sept. thats uber cool.

Posted by: davistld01

For anyone expecting any huge improvement over the Beta model (aside from 3G...a moot point if your area has no service)...you are probably hugely disappointed.

If you expected Steve Jobs and Apple to find a way to put an iPhone in the hands of every teenager in America, Canada, Europe and Asia...and make an absolute mint, while offering little or no real improvement...you are probably very satisfied.
