WHY does my e-mail get deleted from my phone!?

If I download email to my phone it leaves it on my mail server which is fine because I want it to. But after I've downloaded my mail to my PC and removed it from the mail server, I go to check my e-mail on my p800 then it removes all the emails that are on my phone and are no longer on the mail server. It will only display the ones that are currently on the mail server. WHY is this and can it be changed?

It would be nice to keep the emails I want on my phone and not just the ones on my mail server since there are hardly ever any emails left on my server for more than 2 days.

If you are using Outlook, go to Tools --> E-mail Accounts/Accounts --> View or change existing accounts
Then edit your e-mail account.
Click on More settings --> Advanced --> Leave a copy of messages on server
Voila, retained e-mail on your POP server.

okokok what i mean is I dont want to keep the mail on my pop server but I want the emails that I've downloaded to my phone to stay there even if they're not on the pop server. If I check my e-mail on my p800 it removes any e-mail on my phone that is no longer on the pop server... this is n0oo0oo good.
