W580 flashing...this is hopefully an easy question

I tried flashing my AT&T SE w580 today. Used XS++ to do it, using this tutorial, which was pretty well laid out:

http://www.akshayy.com/sonyericsson...h-s500-to-w580/

Anyway, once I was done, I turned my phone on, to find that a couple of the AT&T icons had been replaced by 'Oper Specific!' icons (mobile email, music). I thought it had worked, but a couple of things threw me off:
  1. The main menu marquee still said 'AT&T' (maybe this is SIM card specific?)
  1. The main menu icons looked different, but I could still access the AT&T Media Net stuff, etc, and the AT&T 'Death Star' button still connected me to its network, when I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to.
  1. The camera/video camera function is gone. If i hit 'camera' on the main menu, it replaces the viewfinder with a grey screen which says 'open phone'.

Here are the mdns and stuff I used:

W580_R6BC002_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52
W580_R8BE001_FS_RUSSIA_RED53
W580i_CDA102774_18_R5A_Orange_United_Kingdom

My main problem now is that the Sony Ericsson programs don't seem to be recognizing the phone when it's connected to the PC. Before I had 'debranded' it, SE Suite and SE Media Manager recognized it without problems. When I connect it now (Win XP Pro SP2), the Add Hardware Wizard pops up. Looking through other forums, I downloaded the USBFlash_driver from Wotanserver.com, as well as w580_usb_signed_drivers, both of which require installing. However, when I tried to point the Add Hardware Wizard to the right directories, it ignored the Wotanserver driver, but installed the latter set, which turned out to be stuff for a SE 616, and includes stuff like USB Ethernet and USB modem, which I'm not sure is applicable for this phone.

Sorry for the long post. Here are my final questions?

1. At this stage, I just want to do some basic things like move some jpgs on to the phone's built in memory and use them as wallpapers. I've heard SE Suite 2.6 can do so (as My Computer only seems to detect the M2 memory slot), but SE Suite isn't recognizing the phone. XS++ is recognizing it, however. SE Suite on the other hand brings up a window saying 'Windows is installing drivers', concurrent with the Add New Hardware Wizard. Closing the latter causes suite 2.6 to say that the phone can't be detected. how can I get around this?

2. Can I simply try to reflash using XS++ and hope that these problems go away?

3. How can I restore the Camera functionality?

4. Finally, if I had debranded the SE w580 properly, what would my GUI have looked like? does anyone have any pictures?

5. This came up while I was trying to flash the phone. Is it a Problem? http://img403.imageshack.us/my.php?...68296545em7.jpg.

Thanks.

I spotted a problem right away. You used different FW versions for the main and FS.

Use this guide, and make sure you follow everything step by step. http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1267845
The specific files are included. Is there any reason you use an Orange custom pack?

In other words, you used R8BE001 FS with a R6BC002 Main. They are supposed to be the same firmware version. So stick with either R8BE001 or R6BC002.

Thanks for replying. I'm at work, so I can't try this right away, but will do so once I get home. I would have preferred to use the same custom pack, FW and FS, but the tutorial i used implied that any would do. Also, the links provided for FS, FW links didn't have compatible ones (eg. Orange FW, Orange FS), so I went with two different ones.

Holy crap.... I hope you don't have a bricked phone there... doing something you do can mess it up REALLY REALLY bad... go to my XS++ tutorial and use that, I have links of firmwares there too... and ASK before you proceed or your'e going to end up with an expensive paperweight

My phone actually works fine. I think I got lucky, since only a couple of the icons got replaced, but the rest of it pretty much resembles the old firmware. I consider myself pretty computer literate, but I think that I may have overreached this time.
