I think the new iPhone is kickin rad.

When I got my iphone in december, I thought the fact that it didn't have a couple of basic features for a 'smartphone' would bother me. My iPhone is by far the best phone I've ever had (all around). It's easy to use, stable, has better reception than any other phone I have experience with, and has a very smooth operation.

I unlocked my iphone a few months ago, installed a few random apps, and then restored it to the original software because I realized I didn't really care about the extra stuff.

Now the new phone, I think it's a great update for a second generation phone. I don't care about copy/paste (someone will make an app with the SDK that makes this work), I don't care about MMS because I know how to email through the MMS servers of cell networks...so the only issue is MMS to iPhones, but I can just email pictures to them. The camera is fine, not the best, but fine for what it is meant to be. I think the 3G update with GPS, MobileME/Exchange support, and appstore are a fantastic basis for a hardware update to a phone.

I will be puchasing one in the first week or two of it's sale and plan to be very happy with it (just like I am very happy with my current iPhone).

I think it's hilarious the phone gets so much crap because of what is ISN'T rather than any sort of praise for the device it actually is. Of course there will never be a perfect device for everyone (just like not everyone like's the iPod series of music players)

So post here if you're excited about the new phone launch.

i'm gonna pick one up for sure.. not the 1st day though as that will be a disaster.

most of the people are being whiny babes.. especially the nokia fanboys.. i can list a billion things that other phones dont have..

iphone is for sure the best phone I have ever owned.. and like all of the others here, i have owned alot of different phones with more features then the iphone..

i would like to get one just so i dont need to carry an ipod/phone but its really too expensive.

mr jobs did a great job of acting like its so much cheaper now. but it used to be 400 and 20 a month.

now its 200 and 30 a month and an extra 8 for the mobileME service.

18 more a month for two years if you have an existing iphone and for me 8 more a month for two years plus the 200 for the phone make it a big price to get the same functionality as my blackberry.

I do commend apple for saying the iphone will be a platform, however I really dont appreciate their marketing techniques and expensive plan

Yep -- I'm not thrilled about the data rate increases, but that just brings the cost to the same as what I'm paying with Verizon currently. While I was hoping to justify eating my ETF with lower data rates, it's not that big of a problem and I'll be happy to jump ship in July.

You do know that mobileMe is not a requirement to use a 3G iPhone, right?

I hate to say it but if the extra $18 per month is going to break the bank then you shouldn't be buying an expensive cell phone in the first place. Did you really expect a new phone with plenty of new hardware to be cheaper? (especially at launch)

I will be more than happy to pay the extra $10...it's a negligable cost increase IMO

i pay 15 dollars for unlimited data media max, and my phone is 3G. i think you mean to say for PDA phones they charge the same, which is now what the iphone is considered, a PDA = more expensive data. its BS IMO, cause i can suck down just as much data on a regular 3g phone as i can on a PDA 3g phone.
