Current PYP iPhone customers upgrading to iPhone 3G

Alright. I've an iPhone that is on AT&T's Pick Your Plan (PYP) prepaid service. What are the chances that I can upgrade to the 3G iPhone and still keep my current PYP service?

My current theory I'm running with is bite the bullet and sign the 2-year contract and pay for the first month of service. Then after the first month, pay the ETF and cancle and use my GoPhone Sim with Unlimited MediaNet from there on out.
