Hi, how is everyone doing? I'm new here and have been lurking around for a while, love this place because I'm pretty much getting everything I need for my phone here. I currently have a V3 Razr(MP3 player) but I will be getting the iPhone 3G when it comes out and will have it for the Rogers network.

Here are my noob questions:

1. If I buy it in Canada, can I just take out my sim card from my Razr and put it in the iPhone? That's it, no problems, just works like that, or do I still have to unlock it?

2. How much does it cost to unlock an iPhone?

3. Can I unlock an iPhone by myself, and if so, how risky is it?

Thanks for anyone who bothers to look here and thanks to those that are helping me out. Much appreciated.

EDIT- I'm under contract with Rogers, don't know if that matters. Also, will my contract have to increase once I switch phones or no? Thanks again.

For R&D, anywhere between $1k-$10k. Last IPHONE, the person got a car.

Possibly, depends if you know how to hack. Very risky if you dont know. .

I'm not sure how much it costs, but I don't think it costs between $1,000-$10,000 to unlock and iPhone...
