Will the 3G iPhone be able to receive meeting requests?

A lot of times I receive meeting requests on my Motorola Q as an email, then I have the option to either "Accept" or "Decline". If I accept them, they will automatically get put on my Calendar, and a notification is sent to the Meeting Organizer, that I accepted or declined the meeting.

Does the new 2.0 software on the iPhone do this if a request is sent to me via my pop3 email account?

It will of course work if you're hooked in through exchange, but as far as the mobileMe part goes, I do not know if there is a built in option for this...

an interesting question...

I doubt the military is gonna allow us to use iPhones through exchange. We have to login using a CAC card with custom DOD certificates in order to retrive any emails or appointments. However, I could have Microsoft Outlook Autoforward my appointments to a different email address.

This is interesting considering a dude from the army was part of the keynote speech talking about how much they plan on using the new iPhone...

Hmm, I wonder how they would incorporate that. I even had to get a CAC Card reader to access my work email from home via Outlook Web Access. The encryption certificates are also built into that CAC Card which looks like a SIM card to me.

I am anxious to know more about "mobileME" and the 'publication' or 'broadcasting' of calendar info. I would love to have a family calendar, with several parts to which my family could subscribe and update... but yeah Exchange meeting stuff is cool too.
