Is this a good time to buy itouch?

I'm looking into buying the itouch 16gb version, I found one for ~$265 and I was wondering if this was a right time to buy it

New iphone is coming out but I don't see many differences between the 1st gen and 2nd gen, so does that mean we're not gonna have a 2nd gen itouch?

Is there a word that they're coming out with a new itocuh as well?

skatistic888,

Hmm... What is "iTouch"? Or you mean iPod touch?

heheh yea my bad, apple confuses me with all the "i" in everything :P

yea I mean ipod touch

well if that's all the mistakes, does anyone actually have an answer?

I just bought one last night, and I couldn't be happier. And with the 10% recycling discount I got for recycling my 3rd gen iPod, I got a better deal - although all of the accessories I got for it so far bumped the price back up.

I'm a little concerned because it's gonna be a change from my tiny nano to bigger touch

I'm leaning towards 32gb, if I can get a deal on it for around $350 I think I'll get it

Get the biggest one you can. I have the 16gb version, and I have 5 movies on it, about 10 TV episodes of various shows, podcasts, and music. With the cable I got to watch it on my TV, I think I can just have an all day movie marathon.

Folks,

A question for you all... Will you go for the $9.95 iPhone 2.0 software for iPod touch upgrade when it becomes available?

32gb seems like the logical choice when it comes to price/gb..How many hrs can you get out of yours? I've read different comments on the battery, I don't wanna end up charging it everyday

The only thing I'll use from that update is the Word/excel/powerpoint compability - if any. I think I'll hold off for that for a while, as my iPod is sucking my credit card dry from all of its accessories (that's another reason why I got the iPod)

So far, I've been using it for atleast 3 hours a day (if not more) surfing the net, watching videos but I haven't able to gauge the battery status after that because I'm always plugging it into my computer to change things.

It's the perfect time to buy them now. Check Craigslist. Several 8GB Touches can go for only $200-225. I returned my 16GB iPhone because I didn't want to deal with mandatory data charges and have a phone everybody else has. I'll stick to my Nokia which acts as a better phone anyway.

I used the money to get a factory sealed Touch for $220 just yesterday. It's gotten cheaper because people who bought an iMac or Macbooks ended up getting a Touch for free as a promo, as well as the subsidized cost of the 3G iPhone. Some already have iPhones and are just unloading their unused iPod Touch for cheap off Craigslist. It might be a hassle to carry an extra device, but at least no worries on data plans and contracts. You still get 80-90% of the iPhone "experience". Thinner and smaller too. Just cover the back with a black silicone case.

I'll just wait for the Xperia X1 while everybody converting to iPhone will be stuck with mandatory charges and two year contract.

iPhone = best iPod Touch/PVP in the cell phone industry. Not the best "phone".

Just get a iPod Touch if you don't want to leave your carrier. It might keep you entertained until a much better iPhone is released next year.

Anyone in the LA/OC area? There is a few factory sealed iPod Touches for under $250. Haggle if you want it to go lower, I doubt these current iPhone users would care since they probably got it free off the promo.

But during September, who knows? The new models come out and the price might just drop. Still, if you want the multi-touch experience without the phone bill, about $200 is the cheapest way to experience it right now without buying a Chinese knockoff.

Get a Belkin or Merkury silicone case ASAP to keep it thin and lightweight. Decent cases for cheap (got the Merkury case for $10 off Radioshack) and to cover up that scratch-prone backside. It does make it look pretty nice even with it on.

September is usually the moth of iPod refreshes, and there has been hints that the iPod Touch will be receiving a revision come September, so i suggest that you hold on to see what happens. If there isnt a revision, there will probably be a price drop anyways.

I would wait as well. http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/
