Applecare plans?

OK heres a serious question for everybody. What do you think happens to the applecare plans we all purchased for the phone? I mean the iPhone itself isn't even a year old so none of the applecare plans are even in effect yet. Do you think we will be allowed to move the applecare plans over to the 3G phones if we switch or will we be screwed and have to pay for a new plan?

AFAIK, once the Applecare plan is attached to an Apple product it is stuck to that product.

How are you screwed? If you buy applecare for your laptop and then upgrade to a new laptop you don't get to "move" the applecare coverage to the new laptop.

this is why i didn't buy it for my current iPhone, i knew they would release a 3G one..
ALWAYS buy apple care right b4 the warranty ends, if u want it

+1. The only reason to buy sooner is if you're forgetful. Otherwise you risk losing most/all of the value of apple care if your item is stolen or you decide to move on.

Speaking as someone who used to work for a fruity computer company they are VERY strict about you buying the warranty before the 1 year is up. 1 year and 2 days, sucks to beyou...

If I ran Apple I would be too. Once warranty coverage lapses, there's too much risk people will game it by waiting until the item breaks.
