Hey guys, I know there are alot of threads but this seems important to alot of people who sold their old iphones, like me. Unless I am mistaken, If a person had the current iPhone then buys the new 3G one...the first gen iphone becomes a brick. So, does this mean that once I activate my new iPhone, it will brick my old one that is in the hands of some guy off eBay!!! This could be a problem.

From CNET

"Q: Let's say I bought my iPhone last year and I want the iPhone 3G. Can I give my old iPhone to my sister or sell it on eBay?
A: No, once an existing iPhone user activates service for an iPhone 3G, their first-generation handset will be unusable as a phone. You won't be able to replace it with another AT&T SIM card and use it to make calls. This also means that you can't buy an old iPhone on eBay and expect to activate it on AT&T's network. However, you can use it as a media player and a Wi-Fi device for browsing the Web. "

No, the person you sold it too is using his own service and sim card. It only becomes useless to the original owner if they choose to keep it as a backup phone. As we all know the iPhone only works with the sim that its activated with, so it will not work with your 3g activated sim.

Man, I hope your right. Cuz the CNET post says that it will not accept any ATT sim cards...BUT...now that i think of it...I unlocked it so it should be fine
