I know that with the release of the 3G iPhone, there have been all kinds of people dropping their current iPhone in hopes of getting a new one. I don't want a new one, but I do have a very interested buyer and I have no idea what to sell mine for?

So, anyone that has sold theirs, how did you make out? I am thinking that this is not a phone saavy person, so he is not going to try to lowball me.

I just bought a new 8gb for $300, but they usually got for around $400 on eBay, unlocked. If you have a used 8gb I'd say $250.

Try searching around eBay's completed listings and on craigslist.com.

i would think that the 1st gen iphone would bring in a really nice price because of there unlockable state... iphone 3G not really being all that, the older model well be in even more demand than before!

I sold one of my used 16GB a week before WWDC and got $575 for it and I can only see the demand for these going up!

The potential buyer is in Canada, so the 3G would do him no good until it can be unlocked. Is more than retail crazy? He cannot find one anywhere.

eBay will get more than Craigslist ($420 was my max offer), but you get cash right away with Craigslist.

I sold mine for $495 shipped but my auction ended the Thursday before the 3g announcement.

I suggest you watch a few auctions similar to what you're selling in your My eBay, so you know what the range is.

Is unlocking and jailbreaking that hard to do that people pay more for pre-unlocked first -gen phone?

The value is about $120 down from pre-annoucement. I think it will slowly go down further.

For people that are not computer or phone tech savvy, I would say that it is.

Well i am trying to pick up a used 8gb or 4gb for 250 and so far nothing on ebay as they are going to 300 or low 300's.

The closer to release we get, the less 1st gen's will go for. Once Joe Public finds out each 3G iphone must be activated before leaving the store, the price of the unlocked 1st gen iPhone should go back up to $350 to $450, depending on how enticing the auction title is. Clearly that is only an opinion.

The short answer is that you will be able to sell your phone for whatever someone is willling to pay for it. Supply and demand of both phones will determine the future value of either phone. I would not be surprised if the 3G iPhones go for about $800 each, once those rediculously smart Dev's unlock it.

Here lately the price of iphones has been fluctuating on ebay. One sold the other day (Used) for 425 bucks.I actually think you should hold onto the first gen iphone and wait for the smoke to clear. When all the new people that want one cannot get one get a clue. The pricing of the first gen iphone will be golden.I have 2 first gen iphones and I am going to hold onto them and list once the smoke clears.bigger profit margin.

I think your seller feedback has a lot to do with it too (I have 370+). I got almost $30-50 more than other sellers even though I was selling the same thing.
