3G iPhone Tethering

Ok, obviously apple is not including this capability out of the box. But I have a feeling more people then myself are needing this capability. From what I've researched so far, it seems plausible that someone with better then average programing skills COULD make a tethering programming. Any chance anyone's heard of someone working on this? Personally I'd love to help with such a project.

did you bother to do a search? there are already methods to tether iphone 1, it'll prolly carry over to iphone 3g with minimal changes

yes but he may be asking does it cost extra? The att 'official' way costs extra to tether. But is there a program that can get it for free by usign yor data?

Did you read what OP wrote? She/he was pretty clear - is someone in the process of writing a program to support tethering on iphone? Well, there are already programs/methods to do that, and I suggested to do a search to find those. You have similar question, and I can only direct you the search button, as well, because all these issues have been covered to death on these forums

Did YOU read what the OP wrote?? He asked about a tethering program for the iPhone 3G, and a conventional program at that. I dont think he was referring to the old hacks that were used on the first iphone. OP, I was wondering the same thing. I have a dream that one day we will be able to tether our iphones with a USB cable to our laptops and surf the internet via 3G speeds.

this will be a major feature for me
and hopefully it falls within the 30 day return period so I'm not tempted to return the phone

People can't even get the pricing right, contract extensions etc how the hell is anyone going to know if tethering on the 3g phone will be possible when its not even out yet.

Use some ****ing common sense. I wouldn't think the app would even be available except through some sort of hacking as I doubt AT&T will be happy with Apple allowing an app which flagrantly breaches the TOS.

So that pretty much leaves you with hacks, which is exactly what has been happening with the current gen Iphone which is why the guy above me responded like he did.

Anything futher is simply not known.
