I purchased a copy of it this morning - you can't use the software until you receive a registration code, which the order page says may take 2 business days to arrive. Mine arrived within about 4-5 hours of the order (kudos to the vendor!)
I have done some testing with AIM and it works great. Will try MSN and Yahoo later. But all in all I think it works VERY well - and I really like the fact that it uses your buddy list from the AIM server. The UI seems simple and straightforward. It also doesn't seem to use excessive bandwidth - though we will see as I experiment with it more.
The sounds it uses to indicate message arrival are a bit unusual - (mine seems to default to the "uh oh" sound) - Im going to see if that can be changed. If not I will suggest that as an update.
This definitely seems worth checking out - I like it quite a bit more than TipicME. It seems faster, and integrates well with AIM at least.

I tried TIPIC and it hasn't worked for me yet. It says my gprs settings are wrong. I use the internet all day long, so I don't know what they are talking about.

TAWelsh- you might need to download the newest version of TipicME, they have disabled all previous versions which gives you the gprs settings error you received.
For those trying IM+ please post your reviews and comparisons as you get them...TiPicME is one of the software I use the most, especially on my train trips between Washington DC and Philadelphia.

bkptech,
Did you try YIM yet ?
Does the IM+ automatically reconnect after GPRS session interrupted by a voice call ?
Are IM notifications loud enough to hear them ? Programmable ?
thnx
PS. TipicME is barely usable IMHO.

I have tried YIM on IM+ and it works great.
I did a quick test call to my cell phone to see if it would kill the session - but I was able to continue the AOL/YIM chats in progress after hanging up the call.
I havent been traveling too much over the last couple of days so I don't know how well it will handle dropping GPRS sessions. Im taking the Acela train to NYC tomorrow morning so I will see how well it does going 150MPH - though GPRS tends to be reasonably stable on the train (my roommate can do e-mail/web browsing sessions on the train for hours with only minor dropouts - the GPRS session never shuts down completely).
The audio is reasonably loud and gets my attention. The alert sound is not changeable as far as I can tell - Im definitely going to request this in an e-mail message to the vendor.
So far I REALLY like IM+!

Hey bkptech! please share the wealth! we all want the IM+ too!
please send me a copy of it if you can! thanks!

Im sorry but I cant "share the wealth" as this is a commerical software package. It can be purchased at the link in the first message of this thread. IM+ requires a registration code which is tied to the IMEI of your phone - so its not possible for you to "share" it with friends. Each person needs to buy their own copy.
Given what I see of the quality of the application so far - it is worth the $29.95 I have paid for it- we should support developers who create great apps for our phones!

I just got this program as well.
Pros:
- It has AOL, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo, and they all work.
- It acts as a direct client, no third-party gateways or proxies
- Audible alerts
- Chat history
Cons:
- UI is poor and unintuitive. It doesn't try to emulate any of messengers. No emoticons. Online status requires going to the menu (The four buttons at the bottom correspond to the status of each of your accounts, but unfortunately, the buttons DON'T do anything. It just shows you the status icon. One weird thing is these status indicators gray-out after a few minutes)
- Online status are all from ICQ (i.e. MSN does not have 'Out to Lunch', although it does have 'N/A' which does nothing). Online status are set to "offline" by default and you have to manually set them to 'online' after every connect. And on MSN, you can still send to offline users (although MSN doesn't have the functionality to store offline messages).
- Sound alerts cannot be customized.
- No messenger-specific functionality (e.g. You cannot view an ICQ user's details; You cannot view MSN privacy details, nor block other users)
- No groups
- The presence of a "Debug" menu. This should be left to the developer versions.
- Bugs in your face: During a chat, click on the Send button without typing a message and the program crashes.
- No trial version, price is on the high side
