Does anyone have any idea when the new rom for the Mogul (sprint 6800) is going to be released? An official beta version was leaked about a month ago, and it includes windows mobile 6.1, sprint TV, and some other improvements... Anyone have any idea when they may be looking to release it?

Interesting... Do you have a basis for this information or is it just speculation, I wonder?

Well, you can run a cooked rom from xda-developers forum. Your phone is under the Titan sub-forum. Otherwise you'll just have to wait for Sprint to release an official ROM.

The ROM I'm talking about isn't a home cooked one... it's a "leaked" official beta of an updated ROM for the Mogul... as in it's actually made by HTC, just not officially released yet. I'm just trying to find out if anyone has any clue when that one will come out of beta and be released publicly and officially.

I also don't understand why HTC has to have three names for the same phone... Mogul, Titan, 6800... pick one, or at most one official name and one nickname, and stick with it! Yeesh...

some of the cooked roms are based on the WWE(official HTC) release and some are based on beta releases. I would rather have a cooked beta than an official release. The official releases are usually bloated and the cooked roms are more streamlined. There are usually some initial bugs with the cooked roms but they get fixed very quickly. If you only want an official release then you'll just have to wait.

They use different names because HTC will only provide direct support for their named products. The other names are adopted by the carriers.

Ah, I see... I may try out one of those cooked roms then, I never really thought about them being improved upon.. but it makes sense since it's essentially a community collaboration.

That's interesting about the naming schemes too. I'm glad they actually do have a reason, and it's not just some arbitrary plot to confuse consumers :-p

Thanks for the info

Yeah, I wondered about the naming scheme too. I figured it out when I tried to register my Tilt on the HTC eClub site. The site wouldn't let me register my serial # because it was AT&T branded. That's when I also noticed all the carrier subsidized phones had different names than the phones available directly from HTC.

I have installed quite a few cooked roms on my Tilt and only one of them had any serious bugs.
