Cool BlackBerry Shortcuts/Tricks for "Power Users"

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Howdy folks,

This article contains a number of great BlackBerry keyboard shortcuts and tricks, a few of which actually come from RIM's CEO.

I've been using a number of them for awhile, but two of them really caught my eye: 1) the ability to use AutoText for multiple e-mail signatures; and 2) how to dial phone numbers with letters, like 1.800.BlackBerry.

Check it out.

What's your favorite or most commonly used shortcut?

Nobody has a favorite shortcut to share?

I'll offer up one of mine. Inside your inbox, you can hit your "U" key to navigate to the oldest unread message. From there, you can continue to hit "U" to go to more recent unread messages. Very helpful for folks who receive lots of email, but don't always have time to check it all.

On a QWERTY handheld, Alt+NMLL on the home screen replaces your signal bars with the proper signal (eg: -102 dBm in my cube behind a giant pillar).

ALT+SHIFT(right)+DEL

battery pull for QWERTY keyboards without actually opening the battery door and pulling the battery out manually

Yeah, I'm fairly sure ALT+SHIFT(right)+DEL is a soft reset. Still good to know, though.

Free up memory by clearing the event log, or disabling it altogether. To access your Event Log, go to your Home Screen, hold down the ALT key and then type "LGLG." The Event Log will then appear, and you can click a specific event for more information or hit your BlackBerry "MENU" key more options.

Pull up detailed status screen, navigate to your home screen and then press "ALT", either "SHIFT" key and the letter "H". To return to your Home Screen, hit "ESCAPE" or open the "MENU" and select Close.
