So Adobe has Flash up and running on iPhone...

According to Adobe:

"We have a version that’s working on the emulation. This is still on the computer and you know, we have to continue to move it from a test environment onto the device and continue to make it work. So we are pleased with the internal progress that we’ve made to date."

Problem is Apple doesn't seem all that interested in Flash on the iPhone and much more interested in the JavaScript framework SproutCore which they see as the future to reduce dependence on Flash, it is open source.

So I guess flash is not on the iPhone due to technical issues, but really is more of a strategic company move?

Who knows.. I would imagine that Apple would have to pay a licence fee for using flash per device???

I thought Adobe got rid of licensing fees:

Flash player opened up by Adobe

Adobe originally said they would need cooperation from Apple, especially to integrate with the browser. No sign of that yet.

Personally, I would not be shocked if Apple licensed Silverlight, as Nokia has. Apple has already shown a willingness to use Microsoft standards with Exchange support.
