HTC Touch Diamond - is it Quad Band?

Hey folks,

Was just reading an article on engadgetmobile.com and came across this dandy.

http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/...-band-connecti/

I was about to completely write off the Touch Diamond - since it only has tri-band.

However, having it as quad-band would completely change the scenario - since I am a frequent traveller.

Does anybody have it as a Quad Band phone? This is the first time I'm hearing about it having quad band mode.

Has HTC released a tri and a quad band phone? Any speculation or thoughts?

i was looking through compusa's website and just saw it as well....

can anyone clarify it?

No, the current diamond is tri-band because I just got one off importgsm.com
However, they are supposed to release an american version which is supposedly quad-band.

The plot thickens - any ideas on a release date for the Quad Band Version?

I was really hoping not to jump on the iPhone 3G bandwagon...and now I may not have to.

according the htc the quadband version wont be released for months, so i highly doubt that compusa's version is quadband, they must just have their specs wrong... probably read gsmarena (where it says its available in quadband)

Engagdgetmobile.com updated their site with the following:

http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/...-band-connecti/

"Update 2: For shame! HTC just pinged us and said this thing is the same as every other Touch Diamond, meaning that North American 3G is not supported."

Do you guys have sources about the Quad Band version of the Touch Diamond? If so, I will definitely wait until it comes out in Quad Band.

edit: gsmarena.com lists it as tri-band though, in the States version. At least it's got 850. But in countries with 900 MHZ band, I'm stuck!

I received my HTC Diamond from CompUSA this morning and it does not work on the 850 band although it does list UMTS 850/1900 GSM 850/1900 in the settings
HTC offers no support because they say it is not released for US yet
