Vitelity, Sipura, & Cordless and cell (pagepluscellular.com)

These are the players/products in my setup:

1) DSL only from AT&T (no phone)
2) Vitelity.com for voip for $3.79 (promotion until 6/31/08) for unlimited incoming; outgoing is 1.5 cents/ minute. Fairly reliable. Support pretty good.
3) Sipura 2000 ATA with 2 ports
4) Cordless phone

So far, the quality is good. I also have a Polycom Soundpoint 500 and that works well too.

In the process, I checked out les.net as well, but they are not as reliable. They broke down on a Sunday and didn't get going until Monday. Even for residential, that's a no go.

Moreover, Vitelity has e911 and even claimed 24/7 but haven't had to call them outside of basic hours yet.

Nerdvittles.com recommends Vitelity.com and there is another provider who recently picked them as well.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend les.net because they are down too often.

I also have used telasip.com but they are more geared towards small businesses. They were fairly reliable. For 2 years of usage, there was one morning where they were down for a couple of hours.

I also like pagepluscellular.com for cell phone. Excellent Verizon backbone and great pricing.

These 2 setup (voip from Vitelity & pagepluscellular.com for cell) are great.

"Down too often"???? Too Often?

Phone service isn't supposed to "go down".

VOIP is not, and will not, ever, be ready for prime time.

I hope that you can report to us in a year that your AT&T DSL-Only service has been free from interruption as well. Good luck.
