TMobile Curve - What plan gets me my work Exchange Email?

I'm making the move from a TMO Wing to a Curve, should be here Wednesday. Syncing to my Exchange server for work email and calendar is very easy with my Wing, however I'm concerned that it won't be as easy with my Curve. We do NOT have a Blackberry server in house, and I am sure we won't be anytime soon.

I have signed up for an email-only plan $9.99 from TMO, and likely will bump up to a $19.99 total internet plan. I see there is yet another higher cost plan, for $29.99 that seems to me is the plan that allows Exchange connectivity without having a RIM server in house.

Can anyone give me a crash course in what to expect, and what plan I can use, to get push email as I have today, from my work Exchange server?

Thanks for your help.

If you want e-mail from Exchange and don't have a BES in house, you will need the $29.99 plan AND use the BlackBerry Redirector, which is part of Desktop Manager (included with the BB). You will have to leave a PC logged in to your network at all times in order for redirector to forward your e-mail to your new BlackBerry.

Does the company allow access to Outlook Web Access?

If so, then you can supply the credentials to the BlackBerry Internet Service (which is what you get with the $9.99 plan) and get your e-mail that way.

Note however that using BIS won't get you OTA calendar/contacts/tasks sync without additional software.

I *always* assume people want push e-mail.

Yikes. Please don't use Redirector. YMMV but it's extremely unreliable in my experience.

Check with your admin and see what options you have for getting to your Exchange account. With BIS you can forward, POP, IMAP, or use OWA but your actual options may vary. The BIS add-on is $19/month. Don't bother with the BES add-on unless your company gets a BES server though you will need the BES add-on if you do decide to go with Redirector.

You won't get OTA sync with any of these options (or even Redirector). You'll need to install Desktop Manager and sync via USB.

depending on your company's situation and how nice your IT department is you could convince them to setup Blackberry Professional Server which gives you 1 free license...
