Camera Stopped working on my Curve

The camera application starts up and it can take pictures, however, it only captures a black screen. There is nothing covering the lens. The last time I tried using the camera before it broke, I was in the camera application and the screen turned pink/purple/blue in a funky pattern then turned black. Everytime I open the camera application the lens captures nothing but black. I can save pictures and the flash icon always appears (and works when attempting to take a picture). I'm thinking it's a hardware problem? I'm not sure though. Anyone have any clue what I can do to try to get the camera working?

Take it to the store where you got it and have someone look at it. My guess is it's a hardware problem yes and you should be eligible for a replacement under the mfr warranty assuming it is less than a year old; if not I hope you have insurance but either way going to the store is the first step.
