Is there any word when the BB Bold might be avail. on verizon wireless?

Is the Pearl the newest device before the bold? Is the Bold the only one that can take advantage of VZ evdo network?

thanks

Well, the Bold can't take advantage of any CDMA EVDO network because as of right now, it will only be released as a GSM model. The CDMA model will probably come later on, and may or may not be called the Bold. And will probably not be a 9000 but a 9*30, like all the other CDMA BlackBerrys.

The CDMA Curve is the latest CDMA BlackBerry. It was released after the CDMA Pearl. I've never held a VZW Pearl or Curve, but I assume both are EV phones. My Alltel Pearl is.

I have an 8130, and even though it is EVDO, it is NOT Rev A. Supposedly, from what I have read, The Thunder will be Rev C capable. Don't quote me on that, but I believe that's what BGR/BlackBerry Cool has stated without going and looking it up again. If you are interested in a BB, get the Curve or the Thunder/Bold come 3Q of this year, depending which one drops on VZN. Hopefully both. **crosses fingers**

Yes they are EVDO. I have a curve and have played around with the Perl many times in the store and read up on the specs.

I talked to a guy at the Verizon store and he thinks we will probably have a Bold around December. That's speculation though as he has not heard anything official. Of course the same guy had not even heard of the Thunder and though that the Bold being a lower number would have to come out first so who knows. Following that logic the 8830 would be the one that just came out and we would have had a Curve 8330 a year ago. I'm thinking he's new ;-)

I also talked to the guy at AT&T today and he does not have a release date for the Bold there either. I briefly considered getting one line of service data only on AT&T (no way I'm leaving VZW) but they don't have a data only BB plan and the cheapest I could get by would be $70 -- YIKES

Brilliant. So the 8110 was released before all other 8xxx models?

Nope. All of VZW's current (and even some older ones) models are EVDO. Full specs for all BB's are available at Blackberry.com.

Actually I believe the 8700 line was first, followed by the 8800, 8300 and 8100 on GSM and 8700, 8800, 8100, and 8300on CDMA networks. odd as that is

Yes but only 8830 supports RevA
