Slighly Disappointed with Q Global

So here's the scoop. I already had a Motorola Q9h from a different carrier. I liked the darn thing so much that I found myself frequently forwarding calls from my AT&T line to my Claro line and leaving the brick, I mean, Tilt at home.

So I decided to get a Moto Q Global from AT&T and put my Tilt for sale. I can't say the Q Global is a bad phone, but it's not in par with my other Q9h: Is it because I put the extended battery and find the phone thicker? Not at all. Here are a few issues.

1. Q Global is slower than Q9h. It takes a lot longer to boot and it's slower to respond. Opening Opera Mobile takes an eternity on the Q Global while on my other Q it's pretty much instant.
2. Crippled features. AT&T has limited ringtone size to 300KB while I can use any size with the Q9h.
3. The Q Global has too much useless crap without a chance to uninstall it.
4. (least important) I like the all-black design of my other Q9h better than the black/silver combo in the Q Global.

So all said, the Q Global is not a bad phone but still it isn't as good as it should've been. On the plus side, I'm really sure this is the last AT&T-branded phone I'll ever buy now that I have evidence in my hands of how their branding ruins phones.

I know what you mean, I have completely removed all the at&t apps from my Q9. I have done numerous other hacks to allow it to run much better than it does right out of the box.

This will fix your ringtone issue:
Use a registry editor, I use PHM, its FREE.
Go into HKEY_CurrentUser --> ControlPanel --> Sounds --> FileSizeLimit ( it's a DWORD value) Delete it. Easy as that and now you can enjoy your MP3's without the size limitation.

To delete the useless at&t stuff, search for a app called "EnableRapi", run it on your desktop PC while Q9 is connected to it. then access the file explorer, and go to folder settings and set it to "show hidden and system files". You can then navigate to Windows/Start Menu and you will see the shortcuts for the at&t apps, and after running EnableRAPI you can delete them.
I also rearranged several of the item I left in the start menu, moved some to "applications" folder, and other to "system" folder.
You could delete the apps themselves from Windows folders also, but they don't take up that much space so getting rid of the shortcuts is best option.

Thanks. I did fix the ringtone limit issue yesterday after searching the WM Standard forum.

As for the other stuff, I don't think deleting the shortcuts to the crapware will really improve performance. I wish there was a way to prevent the crapware from installing in the first place as is possible with HTC Pocket PC's. Then again, that's not possible on HTC smartphones either.
