Dead iphone / screen... Can anyone help??

My sister has the iphone and has no idea what happened. One day the screen did not turn on. She gave it to me to fix but I have no clue what to do. I searched around, tried resetting the phone but nothing is happening.
The only sign of life that I see is that when plugged in (to an aftermarket charger) the charger flashes.
If anyone can help out I would greatly appreciate it.

Morning Bump

Check for water damage... White-dot inside the headphone jack? or red?
Hold down button and sleep/wake button to try to reset.
Worst case scenario, punch up the serial number on Apple's warranty status page:

Then set up a Genius Bar appointment at Apple store:

Its white.
Tried resetting and its a no-go. I also just found out her friend tried to apps etc. using something called bootloader and that's when it failed (in dfu mode I guess?)
Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I have a nice looking paperweight?
Itunes will not recognize the iphone btw

ouch...yea it could be bricked then

No way out of it if its truly bricked?? I have seen posts about ppl being able to bring their iphones back to life if it got stuck in recovery mode, but mine is just stuck with a blank screen.

Here's what you do....
If it truly isn't water damaged, go out and buy the extended warranty for the iPhone. Call Apple/ATT service reps...get phone fixed. All for $65.

Thanks for your advice. I contacted apple (my phone is under warranty with just 8 days left
) and I told them that the phone might have a dead battery and it is not responsive to anything.
They are sending me a box tomorrow for me to send my phone in and they mentioned that it should be under warranty... I'm hoping they can fix/replace the phone.
