Do you think it is possible that when you purchase the iPhone 3G and put on the unlimited iPhone data with Rogers or Fido, since it will have Visual Voicemail, if you put the sim in an unlocked old AT&T iPhone 1. Will Visual Voicemail work on it since it will then be available and you will have the feature added onto your account? Also if I am correct in your old iPhone you should then be safe to use Internet.com

hmmmm....good question...I would actually think so because the feature would be available on the network and if it is added to your account, you should be able to access it regardless of whether you have a gen 1 or 2 iphone.

I am thinking you would be able to also.

let's all hope you can, even though i will be getting the 3g version, my 1st gen will be my backup phone, and i will be switching sims between them. So it would be cool if it will work also.

I have a feeling this won't be active on all accounts. From another post I read, they speculate that VVM is recorded on Fido/Rogers end and a compressed version is sent and stored on the phone. Why would someone with say a Nokia 6301 need this? I think it will be activated on accounts of people who purchase an iPhone from them.
Maybe we can phone and ask to have it turned on for our 2G iPhones though. Will have to wait and see
