Using 3G and wifi networks simultaneously?

One of my friends told me that the new iphone will be able to use both networks at the same time to speed up browsing. Kinda like how some modem makers had a shotgun setup years ago to make the pipe faster. Anyone else hear about this?

I call BS on that one. I'm not sure how that would work considering the data will be originating from different networks and possibly take different paths back to the device and with different latency and total number of hops the data will come back at different times too. It's either or, not both.

What is with all these brand new people joining and posting these whoppers?

Ugh, yeah. Unlikely that the iPhone software will be set up to cope with 2 different IP addresses at the same time.

The first iphone would already do this if true. Cause its on edge and needs it way more than a phone with 3g. Kinda a no brainer that this is bs imo.

If you mean using data and voice simultaneously, the answer is yes

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, but here is what I know:

2G
Talk + surf on WiFi = yes
Talk + surf on EDGE = no

3G
Talk + surf on Wifi = yes
Talk + surf on 3G = yes
Surf on 3G and Wifi = Why would you want to?
