Ok.. I have heard enough of the negatives.. I need to know what it does well from the users out there..

1. Camera.. only 2Mp.. ok, but what are the images like, cam app to use etc?

2. Battery life... after 12 months for the original.. whats the life like?

3. Web browsing, I have heard there is a cookies issue? speed, crash etc?

4. General web page compatibility when surfing?

5. Logs, counters etc? (call logs, data counters, sms counters etc) they exist?

6. Syncing with Outlook, all data fields... issues?

7. Does the OS crash?

And finally...

8. I know the BT is crippled but are the any issues pairing or using with automobile intergrated bluetooth systems?

TIA

BT is not crippled - it does a fine job with the Handsfree profile, which is the one it supports.

works great with the HandsfreeLink in my Acura

The good: music, internet & email, video, absolutely brilliant 3.5 inch screen, fast and stable UI and OS, very decent pics for a 2mp cam, clarity and colours very good, text entry is relatively fast for a virtual keyboard.

The bad: Limited bluetooth, no video recording, no MMS, limited SMS & phone management like contacts search and a few other things missing, no flash support.

Also depends on whether phone is jailbroken because lots of functions like video recording and some other apps that extend or enhance functionality open up. A very active developer community with a lot of useful apps and games.

Battery life is decent but like all smartphones depends on how you use it but a 2 hour session of music, internet, video will last you a day if not more.

For your specific queries - OS is stable without rebooting for days, occasional crash but is rare. Battery life is decent considering the phone is used heavily for music, internet and video, haven't noticed any deterioration after 8 months. Haven't faced any issues with Outlook sync or web page compatibility apart from missing flash support.

The cookies issue mainly affected jailbroken phones and is a permission error which is easily rectified. Safari can crash if you have 3 or more open windows, and on data heavy javascript sites but this is not always. Have had 4 crashes over the month, also sometimes with multiple open windows in safari the previous pages can become blank and have to be reloaded.

-SMS messages are displayed like conversations.

-Contacts have plenty of info not just phone related.

-Visual Voicemail is pretty sweet.

-Everyone hates on the keyboard but I think it's just the people who haven't used it for a little bit. I can jam on it pretty good. Just let the predictive stuff do its thing. I was on the fence about this phone at launch day until I watched to online demo of the keyboard. It's really that good.

-The interface is pure sex. Flicking through contacts/photos/web pages/sms conversations is hot.

-Let's not forget that this is a phone and it does that job very well. Doesn't hang like other smartphones. Isn't laggy. Doesn't keep ringing when you try to answer etc.

-The dedicated switch on the side for silent mode is pretty nice too.

Little things that bug me:
1. You can't manage the groups that contacts go into via the phone. Once a group is created you can add a contact to it. If a call comes in that's not on your list you have the option of adding that from your missed/rec'd calls to a new contact but this gets created without a group assigned.

2. No copy and paste. It's a pain to move info from on app to another (ex. SMS to Gmaps or contact info)

3. No wifi podcast syncing.

4. Surfing to a page that uses flash isn't fun.

5. MMS. Now I could care less for MMS but people sometimes send them to me. That's OK. Somebody at ATT figured this out and sends you an SMS message with a link+user+password. Problem is you can't copy and paste this to the browser to read the message. This can be fixed by fixing #2 or just including the login data as part of the URL that I already ahve to click on.

Cause PAGES and PAGES of confused posts :P

Seriously tho

If you're using an iPhone as a media phone it can't be beat. iPod functionality, a super wide screen for videos and browsing are unequaled an any other iPhone wanna be

As long as you don't expect the (v1) iPhone to be more than it is they're a great phone

Now the 3G I have great hopes for. Adding exchange support and push email to the existing platform, along with evenly marginal GPS capability has me thinking that it might finally be time to combine my Curve and iPhone to one line, once and for all.
