No unlimited Data? That can't be right.

And a 3 year contract. Where is RedSetter when you need him? I though he said Apple controlled all of this!

Notice that device prices aren't listed.

Apple lost a ton of bargaining power when the first phone got unlocked so quickly.

They also just announced that talks are back on with China Mobile now that there is no revinue sharing requirement.

HER!! When you need HER!!!

And I dunno about Rogers. My impression had always been the reason Apple never released the iPhone in Canada was that Rogers/Fido wouldn't/couldn't provide an unlimited data plan

I'm also a Rogers customer (I spend a lot of time in Toronto and was actually considering putting my v1 iPhone on my Rogers acct) so you can rest assured I will be phoning THEM up next to get the details.

Sorry, Her. I apologize. I have no idea what rogers is pulling, Apples site and the packaging (assuming its the same as the 1st phone) both state 2 year contract! Wot the f is up wid dat!

Canadia - ha (when it comes to wireless)

Its always been 3 years in Canada vs. 2 in the U.S....we already knew that.
But we were expecting $30 UL data ($45 for business users) add ons. Those combined voice and data plans are horrible. People thought Ireland and their 1gb iphone data plan was odd.....how about 400mb.....on 3G to boot. How could Steve allow Robbers to insult his iphone with these obscene plans.

Posted by: XanderMac

I take it back. The canadian iPhone page has no reference to device pricing or contract length. Hopefully rogers don't overprice the device too!.

I think at this point people wouldn't even care about that. I know it will be $199/299 for new activations and qualified upgrades, but they havent said anything about people who arent upgrade eligible. These plans are so obscene that most people (at least in the Rogers forum) have probably stopped thinking about device pricing.

I'm currently on the corporate business plan with rogers, which is $23 a month giving me 200 wkday mins, Unlimited evenings and weekends, and special Canada and US long distance rates.

Is there any word on being able to get the iPhone on a business plan and just adding data on? If there wasn't some provision for their corporate business customers, they'd entirely lose that demographic, which is forcasted to be pretty large for the 3G considering all the great business features, no?

Hi all, I work at Rogers. This is what we have been told 8GIG/3year Contract = 199 16gig/3year contract = 299.

And as I have been telling others, Apple needed Rogers and had very little if any say in the plans. If Apple wanted into Canada they had to use Rogers.

that was known....all thats in question now is the price for non eligible upgrades.

Looks like Steve and his iPhone got iScrewed in Mr. Rogers neighbourhood.

Rogers are paying Apple the same price as the other carriers I'm sure, Apple get their money either way. Seems it's the customers that are getting screwed.

Doubtful! As long as Rogers pay Apple the price that Apple wanted then Apple will do business with them. It's the customer getting screwed there, Apple get paid either way.

What a scam!

But if Rogers only sells half of the phones they would have sold with a decent plan, then Apple loses all the revenue from those unsold phones, not to mention the lost itunes/app store revenue from the potential iphone buyers who passed because of the crap plans.

I'm pretty sure Apple gets the money when Rogers buys the phones not the customer

huh?

The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.

If rogers pays apple for the device in advance before it gets sold to a customer, I would defintely be glad to see rogers suffer huge losses when hardly any Canadians bow down to Ted a$$Hole Rogers' monopoly and dish out a minimum of $60 a month with close to nothing features.

Posted by: ajacob24

this is such shenanigans. Although this will keep the iPhone from being purchased by everyone and both their grandparents, these plans are horrible. Robbers at it again!

the poster meant that apple already got their cut when rogers bought the iphones. it doesn't matter how many rogers sells, apple already has their cut. the only extras might be bonuses thrown in if rogers exceeds a certain amount. apple wouldn't give a crap about how rogers prices the device or plans b/c at the end of the day, they can still say: its not our fault, we're just providing the device, rogers is providing everything else and hence, is in charge of everything else.

oh you poor canadians! not even the mighty apple could get you guys a decent unlimited data plan...its never meant to be i guess.

no need to feel pity for Canadians sir, we pride ourselves in being a little less materialistic than other 1st world countries

Posted by: ThomBoh

I just phoned in so rogers CS about how it will work if i'm on a corporate plan and wanted an iphone.

Apparently all the plans that went up today are for new activations only, and if you already have a plan and upgrade to an iphone, you'll have to add a data plan on, and they have no idea what they will be yet.

I also asked about how much they'd charge to people who arent upgrade eligible to get an iphone, and they said they have no idea.

They don't know, anything.

Posted by: xy33kfab

ya it is your best bet to wait a few weeks or more after the launch date, just to see what reactions rogers gets from the public, if not so good, then they will be making changes to the current plans and upgrade eligibilities

Posted by: xy33kfab

i mean if u've waited for over a year for the iphone to come to canada, u can wait another month or so right?

Posted by: signori

I bought my iPhone in august. I've been using the $65 for 1gb pc card plan since it came out. If you add my voice plan and data plan together the price is better then what Rogers is offering. I will keep using this data plan I have now. Hopefully Rogers won't stop me from using this data plan anytime soon.
