Buying an unlocked 3G iPhone in Canada?

With the price Rogers, in Canada, is asking for their data plans I am not willing to buy an iPhone from them with a contract. In fact I would rather pay extra to get an unlocked phone and limit myself to wi-fi access for data.

Does anyone know of places in Ontario or Quebec that will be offering unlocked iPhone 3G, which still have a valid warranty?

None at the moment, since the product hasn't even been released yet. There is going to be some time before the community figures out how to unlock it. It could be a month or longer.

In Canada, are you required to activate the 3G iphone at the time of purchase like how it is in the U.S.?
If so then I can't see how people will get around it unlike the 1st iphone.

You actually can order it over the phone at the Apple Store 1-800-MY-APPLE they told me that when I called them and you can activate it through iTunes when you receive it the rep said and this was for Rogers so it will be able to be done in Canada
