why do people refer to this phone as the vogue. the worldide name is touch. i think its a lot easier for people to have a clue of what ur talking about by saying htc touch.

anyway im sure everyone that owns one will be thankful.

call me when its the p4000

In order to differentiate the GSM and CDMA variants, as not all software, for example, works on both.

Ghettofreeryder, where did you get the file? I can't find it on either of HTC's or TELUS' websites?

Posted by: leanne

The link was posted on ppcgeeks site.

Posted by: murms16

I just flashed my Touch. So, we'll see what this ROM looks like.

Posted by: tobeychris

No Diamond for me

Haha, yeah parts will be in there, but im not liking the performance, but ill play with it some more. To get your internet to work after this flash, do a *22803

Posted by: loginatnine

finally, just in time for the iphone hehe...does any1 know if I have the alltel rom installed, can I just install this one and it will overwrite the alltel rom?

Posted by: sledbc

any instructions needed as to how to flash with this? Never flashed my touch b4, looked like too many steps for my liking.

it's pretty straightforward, you connect your phone via usb and you run the executable...the rest of it is automatic but it wipes out all the data on your ROM (not your microsd) so back up your stuff!

Posted by: sledbc

awesome, gonna do it now, thanks!

why not say cdma touch? i had to look up vogue to see what phone it is. just my opinion

Posted by: sledbc

how long does this take? It's been sitting at 0% for a few minutes so far. RGB lines on the phone screen, is this right?

Posted by: sledbc

still no progress.....anyone else have luck with this?

Posted by: RileyFreeman

if u want instructions u can follow this

Posted by: sledbc

strange it just stalled before it started, soft reset and phone works like it did before. scared to try again till i see some more success stories here

Posted by: kirasir

Just finished flashing. So far so good...

Posted by: bedaweed

i flashed but i didnt want the customizations to happen so i soft reset and there was a few new red icons and they looked like verizon so i just hard reset again...

I let the customizations run this time and it installed something that said REV A..there is also a 4th side to the cube with telus mobile email, navigator and pocket express.

REV A thing in cusomization is telus crap as well. There is only one usefull thing that is new PRI, that is in signed_080515_7500_Telus_2.05.sa.CAB. If you want to install it manually you can install this cab and run PPST.exe.

Posted by: leanne

nothing on the 4th side of the cube works for me, i get an error message for all of it!! not like i would ever use any of it......

I have the same issue so just tried a hard reset and its reinstalling all the telus customization stuff. When I first did it my tomtom had reinstalled itself in the process of the customization so I think that may have screwed it up.

I guess I'll find out in a minute.

Edit.. Yep that worked Everything works fine now

I have no internet so tried typing in this code and pressing the dial button and it comes up saying "Cannot complete this call. The Signal may be unavailable or the phone number may not be valid. Verify the number and try again later."

Side note.. I do have a phone signal.

edit.. err.. no no I dont.. its saying I cant make outgoing calls now.. Son of a ....
Second Edit: Okay after a soft reset the phones working again and I can dial out so trying this code now.. which keeps saying programming is unsucessfull... so I have no internet.. odd

Can somone go into there phone settings and go to connections and then the connections button and check and see if they have username and password information in there I should have. I went to "manage existing connections" then went edit on the CDMA1X connection then next next and I came to a screen that asks for username and passoword and domain.. which are all blank. Is this right?

If it's not programming by itself you'll have to get your MSL code and enter the info in manually... http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=28552&page=7 ...and that will tell you how.

I've got my internet and phone working after programming the phone but this ROM seems to have some issues, running slow, programs not running or closing randomly. I did a hard reset after the initial install and am still getting those things.

Haven't tried the GPS yet though, that'll be the big thing for me, if it improves from Ghettofreeryder's stockish Telus ROM.

Normally it gets those username and password from epst settings, in that case you can leave those empty. If user name and password is wrong in epst settings then leaving these blank wont work.
try ##778 send and then edit , enter spc code ( use getspc to get code ) .. then under security check username and password.

we want s640 update!

Posted by: deke

I run the update and began installing my programs.
I have an external bluetooth gps (holux 1200) and use iGuidance. Prior to the update I had to start google maps, then run iguidance. Now I cannot seem to get it to work. Any ideas?

Posted by: leanne

i ended up doing a hard reset and then reinstalling all my programs and stuff a second time. now everyting seems to be working perfect. The GPS connects quickly and am getting a good number of satelites. i haven't had any lockups or crashes yet, but i haven't really used it too much other than installing everything.

Posted by: RileyFreeman

anyone think that the issues are because it wasnt to be officially released?

I have a few programs that I really like using all the time, like opera mini and finger friendly contacts, S2U2 etc. will I have to find them and re-install them after the Rom update?

As well, how much time should I set aside for this operation?

Thanks

ROM Updates usually nuke the whole thing. Start to finish is probably 15 minutes.

It was a joke

Posted by: Rural Guy

Well, after a night of sleep and some soft resets this ROM seems to be doing great! Quicker, and fast GPS pick ups. Tom Tom 6 no longer requires any priming of the GPS, it just launches and goes right away. And a 4 sided Cube is bonus.

Posted by: OrBy

Looks like some one at HTC got wind of this and killed the listing of the folder the updates was in.

Boooo!

anyone that has this could they post another spot to get it from as it is now gone

Posted by: Av8inwithtouch

I just got off the phone with a tech guy from Telus. They haven't officially released this yet. That being said, I updated my Touch and it appears to be working ok, except the data username and password was lost.

Posted by: thetube83

hey guys where should i upload the file to?
i have the exe file but dont know what site to use...

Posted by: tobeychris

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=340674 once it's back online.

Posted by: Av8inwithtouch

I had a data connection problem but followed Tobey's link there and found the answer. Thanks

The Telus Navigator is cool, links up pretty quick with the GPS satellites. Too bad it doesn't work with Google Maps. I'm not going to pay $10 a month for it. Everything else seems to be working good so far.

Posted by: leanne

mine is working flawlessly now. seems quicker. no lockups, etc.

Posted by: jfdube

This *official* firmware is sooo UNofficial, that it's not even funny. Wait for it folks. Wait.

Posted by: tobeychris

It is not official because although it was taken from the HTC website, it was found by a member on their servers, not in a direct link from their website, and has been taken down as of a few hours ago. Therefore it is 'Leaked'.

It is still 'Official' as with the Sprint Leaked Official ROM, as the filename contains 'ship' which is said to mean that is ready to be distributed.

So yes and no, but more yes

that's what I would do as well...at least we know it's coming!!! but since this diamond annoucement, i couldn't care less hehehe

Posted by: Aaron McCarthy

Are we able to upload the rom elsewhere and link it here? I have the rom saved on my computer so as long as I'm allowed to link the rom and post it here I will..

That said.. what the hell do I have to do to get tomtom to recognize the internal GPS? How do I activate this. I ran it with Telus navigoator but I have a sneaky suspicion it was using data to find my location and not the GPS. Anyone have any thoughts? I wish there was something in the com manager that allowed you to turn on and off the GPS antenna.. that way I would at least know its on. I left tomtom running in my car after priming it with gps launcher (which is supposed to start it with the internal gps antenna aparently) but didnt see any satelites after even 15 minutes. the second I switched it over to my external gps reciever it locked on right away.. so I went back to internal... and nothing.

Posted by: Aaron McCarthy

Oh one more thing... does anyone actually have Rev A Speeds? My phone still saysEV and 1X in the top menu bar.. when I click on that it says CDMA1X (Dial-up). Doesnt say Rev A anywhere. I'm thinking maybe the customizations didnt install properly as I'm fairly sure it should at least say Rev A.. and this could be a link to my GPS problems if thats the case.

I did a speed test and downloaded at 699.10 kbps and 840 kbps which isnt any faster then before I flashed the new rom

Posted by: RileyFreeman

if someone wants to send it to me ill upload it to megaupload

Posted by: tobeychris

Telus caps DL at 800 I believe, no?

As for the dl, I uploaded it to ppcgeeks.
DL:ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/T...STPatch1.20.exe

You're best to check out the thread though, and Aaron, I uploaded a new cab I made for TT7 there too.
Site:http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=31437

Posted by: kirasir

So far I can confirm one thing for sure: Opera 9.5 loads up pages at least twice as fast as before, I guess it's probably due to the decreased latency.

Posted by: Rural Guy

For myself, Tom Tom 6 now works withOUT a GPS primer where it needed it before (used Astro). Set it to Other GPS wired receiver, baud 4800, Com 4, good to go.

As for Rev A, if you ##778 it and go through the menus you'll now see some new ones at the bottom and one of them has Rev A Enabled there.

I'm not in a Rev A area so I don't know for sure if it works but it's there in the EPST when it wasn't before. Generally I'm getting (and was before) 1300 down, 350 up on a good test, on average 1150 down, 250 up.

To get your SPC just check your phone's file directory, you'll find a PPST58 file, open it, SPC is right in it.

Using the "official" sprint ROM I know that we had to set the hardware com port to 3 under "External GPS" in the settings menu, on this one it defaults to 4 and that works for me.

Hope any of this helps, and I know I've posted this a few times but just trying to help out some who don't read all the posts. I'll stop now, I promise, just really happy with this ROM, official or not.

Just flashed... everything seems to be working so far.

what do you mean by a primer? Is it possible to get GPS without a separate hardware device?

Hi Tobeychris, Thanks for the message back regarding my question.

So all I need to run is the AstroGPSLauncher cab and it should run off of the internal GPS antenna? I already have a working version of tomtom 7 installed. Does the cab you have there have some setting that mine wouldnt to make the internal gps work?

Posted by: tobeychris

Nope, it's just a combination of AstroGPS and TT7.

It is much harder to get a signal than with the Sprint roms though.

With a few programs, TomTom being one of them, you can check the Satellite status. If you can see even one grey circle, your GPS is working, just not locking. Give it 15 mins in the open outside and watch to see if anything happens. May or may not. Programs like google maps aren't very helpful in figuring out if it's working or not, unless it's working well.

Posted by: Av8inwithtouch

Ok, this new ROM has raised a couple questions.

1st off, the Telus Navigator has no problems picking up the GPS position quite accurately. Now, is there any way to use that GPS signal with Google Maps?. I tried but it just keeps trying to aquire the satellites. Basically, I wanna use the GPS with Google Maps and not the Telus program cause it's free and better.

2nd, Is there any way to change the programs in the cube? I know there are other cubes out there, but I don't mind the stock cube, I just don't need Telus Navigator, Telus Mobile Email, or Pocket Express. (on a kinda related subject, if you know how to get TME off the Today screen that would also be great).

Any insight?

Well I've made some headway.. with the astrogps launcher it opens up tomtom but there wasnt any signal. So I went into the gps settings in tom tom and swicted it over from internal (which I believe was the last setting I had it on when I closed it prior) to "Other NMEA GPS receiver" then selected the baud rate (4800) then selected com 2... and nothing.. then com 7 then back to com 2 and bam.. it saw a few grey satellites. Let itstand for a bit and then I got about 4 blue. Didnt show when I was walking around at all then about 2 minutes after that kept pace with me. I'd stop it would show my speed drop to 0. It doesnt lock on to as many satellites as my external gps receiver but at least now I can walk around and still use gps programs withough carrying around my external one which I just leave in the truck.

It's even got a lock right now(sort of) while down in my basement next to a window, although its going haywire saying I'm apparently going 17 km's an hour then 0.. then something else then 0... But I am fairly sure thats just because the satellites arent locking on properly cause its inside. Annyway I dont want to get this thread off topic. Tomtom up and working so I'm happy!

Posted by: a1jatt

i think this rom will mess up GPS big times. after loading this PRI gps is very weak on my device.
Culprit is a file in customizations that updates your PRI. The Only way i know to fix PRI is either find another pri or use a rom that has function ##786 and do a reset from there.
If someone is interested I can post a ROM that has function ##786.

My thoughts exactly

Now, if someone could just leak an *official* release date for the Diamond, I'd be a much happier person. Right now, my sleep is suffering

Posted by: andsoitgoes

For me, I don't have any interest in the Diamond.

No hardware keyboard = no interest for me

As for the rom update, I'll probably switch back when it's officially released, but I may stick with DCD just due to the extra junk wiped from the running apps.

As for reloading software, look at Sprite Backup. It has saved me a ton of headaches when doing the many ROM updates.

Can anyone confirm the free program memory at initial boot?

Posted by: deke

Some things I like about this ROM so far.

I can go to youtube and watch videos. Very cool. I don't have to download players and other programs. It works easy.

Web pages. It seems that Rev A does really work. Before, pages with alot of graphics seem to hang up at points, almost to a point of reminding me about the days of dial-up. Now wham, it seems to be almost as quick as my desktop. Though the EV symbol is still there so you really can't tell if it is Rev A or EVDO
I noticed my streaming of slingbox to be faster than ever before.

Threaded text messages. Ok.

The 4 sided cube. Ok, I can live without this. Until there is a customizer out there that can give me the ability to change what goes in the boxes I won't be using any of those.

Internal GPS. I would be a little more excited if I didn't have an external gps. Works ok, but I like my Holux better.

Overall, I give this update a thumbs up so far.

Posted by: tobeychris

When I open a youtube video it goes to the stream player and fails to find the network.

Posted by: ghettofreeryder

Yeah, you can watch youtube vids because of the stream player, can be found on xdas site. Nothing special, the leaked rom does not offer much, if you like it, you can download the telus gps program to a cab, then reflash for a real working rom. Thanks Telus, thanks

Posted by: Rural Guy

If you get a registry editor (search, lots of options) you can go in and change all the menus on the cube. I've changed the new 4th side to Google Maps, Tom Tom, and Windows Live Search. The 6 squared side now has Sirius, XM, Opera 9 and File explorer as options.

Go to HKLM - software - htc - bio touch - and then look around and you'll see the app that for example SMS or Telus Navigator is launched by. Just change the name, delete the param if there is one, and then change the source to what ever folder your program is in.

For more details, search, lots of info on how to do it around.

Hope this helps, by changing those menus my phone is now much more useful for myself. It's easier to launch them off the cube than off the program files menu, especially if you're in the middle of something, like driving, not that I'd do that of course...

RG

Posted by: CyberBee

How can I tell if I am on Rev A? I am using the new rom in Calgary. One thing I notice is I can receive call while listening online radio. Before updating the rom, all my incoming call will go to voicemail while browsing the internet on the phone. I like it so far. Thanks OP

You're looking for something like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324556

This is actually meant for the GSM elf but I used it on my vogue for a long while. The last release before this past final release was sort of screwy though. The icons would show up sort of out of place... off by a mm. There's an icon thread as well here (which I made)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...ube+icon+thread

There's also a program meant specifically for the sprint touch (which is the same as the telus) however I dont think it generates the animatations automatically like touch settings.. I could be totally wrong though.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=348418

Give them a try though. Be sure to back up your old cube though otherwise you'll have to do a hard reset to get it back to the stock cube.

Posted by: Av8inwithtouch

I used the 1st one there and it's working really good. Thank you

Been there, done that. I like the fact that many of the programs developed by people on the net has been incorporated into the new ROM. After any hard reset, I don't have to re-install a list of programs again. Sure I have others that I have to do anyways.

I installed the first one I posted... the touch settings and it didnt work for me. The icons wouldn't change nor would the new programs work.

I'm giving the Sprint Touch Cube Configuration Tool 4.1 a shot now to see if that works. I want to put msn and tom tom amoung other things on the cube.

Yeah no luck with the sprint touch config tool. It comes up as having 2 icube sides and a 3rd sprint touch side.

Posted by: Av8inwithtouch

Bizarre. I haven't changed the icons but the programs change fine. I have opera where IE used to be and outlook where TME was.

This update is messed up!

I've had problems with a broken T9 dictionary (missing HUGE amounts of common words, "to", "you", etc), problems with texting people from my address book (insists on sending it to the wrong person), and no caller id, just the number is being listed.

I regret installing it, lol - oh well.

How did you get your GPS to work? :O

Posted by: ghettofreeryder

to get gps to work i did this:
1.Flash leaked Telus rom, let customizations run(probably dont have to though)
2.Install Sprint EPST
3.Install Sprint PPST
4.##786# to reset the phone and PRI
5.When the phone reboot, do not let the customizations run.
6.*22803 option 1
7.*22803 option 2
8.Test GPS and Data

I dont know about you guys but I got the GPS with google maps to work without all this other stuff ppl are trying.

I ran the executable to flash my touch. Then I did

*22803, option 1 and option 1 for programming, then I did
*22803, option 1 and option 2 for prl upgrade

Restarted the phone and GPS and Rev A are working.

I let windows manage my gps in settings and set google maps to use windows settings. Took about 10 seconds and it acquired 5 sats. If you guys have any more specific questions just ask me but thats the jist of what I did. By far the easiest process Ive personally found since hovering in these forums looking for an easy GPS/Rev A solution for my touch.

Alright, I think I got to the bottom of this gps nonsense. I belive the problem is that the GPSone data in the radio is not set up properly. I opened up the settings with QPST, and the PDE informaiton is not setup.

the settings should be as follows
Allowed = checked
Assistanc-Spherical = checked
PDE IP Address = 216.198.139.92
PDE Port Number = 8889
PDE Transport = IP
Position Calculation = PDE

After flashing the new rom, everything is blank. After entering this data, and enabling smartmode in HKLM/Software/HTC/SUPLGPS, i get a solid 5-6 locks in my basement. These results are on the Telus leaked radio, rom and PPST

However, on the 3.42 radio, i was getting 6-8.

Posted by: desi_4

After installing this leaked update my phone randomly slows down, the touch screen barely works and the dpad doesn't work at all sometimes. Most of the time it's fine but once in a while I have to reset the phone to make it work properly. Anyone know what's going on?

By the way I have done a couple of hard resets to fix the problem and have also tried not installing the Telus customizations.

so QPST is a program that will allow us to change these settings? How do we change these settings can you give us a quick guide. I just tried running the *22803 and program the phone BUT I am pretty sure I had to do that anyways to get the internet active on the phone after I flashed the rom. I have had GPS working on my phone since the first day I flashed it. I was just wondering if that would have helped get locks quicker. Sometimes its 10 seconds sometimes it a few minutes. I'm curious to try this method though.

Posted by: kirasir

I second that. My GPS now locks within 5secs with up to 10 sats.

This link explains how to use GPST:

Just finished upgrading my second Touch. Did the QPST changes as well.

Got a 6sat lock in my basement on cold-start within 40 seconds.

To sum it up:

1) Installed the "leaked" Telus Rom
2) Ran *22803 - 1
3) Applied QPST GPSOne Settings
4) Turned on GPSSmartMode in the registry

That's it.

I'm trying to use that link you provided to apply QPST settings... however, my phone doesn't like the password 000000, or the password i get when i run that GetSPC application?! any ideas?

Did anyone figure out how to add ringtones for incoming voicemail & text messages? I was able to do that in WM6 and now that I've updated the rom to 6.1, I can't figure it out again Where do I put the files so that WM6.1 can recognize it and allow me to choose the ringer I want?

when you open QPST and you add the COM4 port and you open the service programming it should say your ESN HEX at the top put that code into GETSPC and then it will generate your SPC..in the service programming click read from phone and enter the SPC it generated for your and it should work.

Im guessing its still the windows folder
thats how it was in WM6, haven't tried it yet in WM6.1

I think WM6.1 changed the folder names and I just can't seem to find the correct folder anymore. . . if anyone knows the exact folder in WM6.1, please post. Thanks!

Posted by: kirasir

Lookup a file in the root directory of your device called PPST58.log. Your SPC is in there.

Oh Ghettofreeryder that's perfect, I've just found an amazing increase in my GPS response and locks. I've had the leaked Telus ROM on now since the first day it was on the HTC servers (though, I shouldn't have switched from your Telus GPS ROM) and now entered those in and soft reset, perfect.

Thanks,

RG

you will need a registry editor. Try searching for ceregeditor

edit:

or install attached file

Posted by: dvs_rydin

Okay got the QPST password working, and all is set. I am now able to get about 6-7 sat. locks on google maps.

I am having trouble getting TomTom to recognize the GPS device though? When I open TT, it just say no GPS device (it's set to internal GPS device in the settings). I have installed the AstroGPS program, and am opening TT throught the sample shortcuts in the Astro Folder, but that is still not working.

Any ideas?

Thanks everyone for all the help! It is really appreciated.

Also what is the best way to back up you contacts before you flash the new rom on you phone

Consider yourself lucky. I reflashed the ROM and did everything just as you laid out there. No GPS in Google Maps for me.....

Posted by: dvs_rydin

Figured I'd send in an update....

Finally was able to get TomTom to recognize the internal GPS. I changed the TT settings from Internal GPS to "other NMEA GPS Receiver" and selected Com 1. I also need to run TT through AstroGPS.

Wierd, if I use Telus Navigator, find my location, then open up Google maps, ask it to use the GPS to find my location, it zooms right in. If I use Google maps by itself, forget it.

Alright.. FINALLY got this working. I had installed the cab file that A1jatt posted in post 482 to change the registry settings and still wasn't getting a lock for gps any quicker then I was before. I figured I had did something wrong so I re-ran QPST this morning to check my settings and sure enough I had put in the PDE Port Number wrong. I was missing an 8... I had 889 not 8889. Put that in and reset the phone and now I got a lock of 6 satalites in my basement right away. I dont even get that with my bluetooth receiver!

Thanks guys!

And to confirm this will work with my P3050?

Update for everyone, Im finally a convert.

Though my GPS was working since the new flashed rom, it sometimes took a few minutes to acquire lock on sats and it was getting annoying. Sometimes up to 5 minutes to acquire a lock on sats though it would always acquire. So decided to try the cab file to update the registry for smart mode gps and use the QPST settings provided. Like i said Im a convert, I get a lock within 10 seconds every time now and its usually 2 sats more than before. Before I was getting about 5-6, im up to about 7 or 8 sats.

If anyone could answer this question for me though, because this is really my first time doing something like this. Is there any way this could come back to bite me in the a**. I know generally this is sat lock and doesnt use data for that purpose, however does use data for the maps. Is there any way we can get dinged in any way from Telus for making these changes in qpst. Im looking for some info from people who know what and why when it comes to QPST changes.

Posted by: WarRaven

Dont use navigator unless you want to pay for it, 30 day free promo then $10 a month or $3 a day to use that.

Use Windows live,it tracks you nicely, an of course you already have a data package.

If you have to send it in for service, hope that htc has released the update officially, then all is golden, if not released an you need to send it in, may need some doctoring.

Only thing is, you cant roll back the radio upgrade, not without bricking it, new provisions are added that are not removed during a flash down and cause issues.

Otherwise enjoy, enjoy an enjoy some more, best part though really, is if your browsing the web an someone calls you, You WILL get the call now.

I see Htc has released the windows wireless modem driver for the touch this morning, so update is close i assume.

I just flashed mine back to 1.59. I think if you try to flash 2.xx radio that will brick it

Posted by: WarRaven

I was just reading a bit more on this, i think one could flash the windows 6 back an possibly leave the radio intact, their techs would probably miss that unless it was a radio related problem, IE no worky.

Seems touchy yet, pun intended.

Has anyone had any issues with their HTC Home plugin in this new rom? I've had it up and running since the first day it was leaked and did all the GPS upgrades etc and today all the sudden my home location in weather wouldn't update. I went into the weather settings and the only option that was there was Bakersfield USA.. no other cities.. no other countries... nothing. Very weird. I Live in London Ontario Canada and this was the first time I have ever seen a glitch like this on the home plugin. Any idea's?

Thanks!

Edit: I'm going to try and reinstall the HTC home. I forgot I had upgraded it to a newer version with a clock that looked similar to the clock on the diamond. I hope that will bring back my city!

Well after uninstalling it and running the orginal home plugin and getting London back on I REinstalled the updated HTC home version with the diamond clock and got London back up and working. It still only lists Bakersfield US but at least its updating now. Must just be something wrong with the coding in this version of Home. At least now I know how to fix it. Sorry for bringing the thread off topic!

I checked at HKLM\software\htc\...and so on.

Thank you.

It would appear that way. I dont think they realized we had access to the server in all honesty. When you try and access it now it wont let you access it. The side WAS updated to have the download section back up but all they put up there was the WMmodem driver so you could tether your device to your PC.
I would suspect they are waiting till the realease of the Diamond till they put the upgrade back on. That way saying they dont know when it will be.. a ton of people will upgrade and then they release the upgrade activing GPS and WM 6.1 etc. ie.. pissing alot of people off.

I of course am still going to be getting the touch and just selling my touch all together I think or keeping it as a back up

That's just my two cents though. The Diamond is supposed to be out within the next week or so so I would assume you can expect the rom update sometime after that to be "officially" released

Posted by: tobeychris

If it doesn't come out the day of the Diamond, I'm getting the Diamond on 3yr renewal!

Posted by: tobeychris

Ummm... what update are you seeing?

Posted by: SiMPiN

http://www.telusmobility.com/ab/bus...0_upgrade.shtml

Looks like TELUS and HTC are not in sync... TELUS is confirming the 6.1 update is available and links to the HTC site but only showing the WMODEM drivers at the HTC site. Should be up by the end of the day.

I do not think there willbe a 6.1 for the s640 since it was a TELUS exclusive and HTC has not developed an update for it yet.

Posted by: SiMPiN

Doubt if you wish, I'm just quoting the internal email I've received. Just because the S640 was TELUS exclusive does not mean HTC will not support it ... what kind of a manufacturer would operate in such a manner? I can understand why you would doubt as it's taken 1 million months to get 6.1 on the Touch but I'm sure the S640 will get a 6.1 update too.

Posted by: whothis

I am not doubting I am telling you from as Riley will say Ninja info.
I think you should read the paragraph on conditions the s640 will get rev a and LBS functionality. Microsoft and HTC have not built 6.1 for the s640.

My wife use the HTC Touch and is not a Kitchen fan like me. How safe/stable is the Leaked ROM compared to PPCGeeks and XDA Kitchens ROMS?

Posted by: maxpower929

it looks like this is the same as the leaked file. i am no expert so if anyone that is would like to confirm that would be great or i will need to go threw whole updating thing again. oh and the file is now up.

http://www.htc.com/us/FAQ_Detail.aspx?p_id=80&act=sd

Posted by: tobeychris

The leaked rom is stable, and with some tweaking, the GPS connects instantly (with data usage for assistance) but it is still slower than the kitchen roms. The only real advantage is that you do not have to unlock a Telus phone in order to use it. Therefore you don't void your warranty. It's still good, and you can add all the programs to customize it, but it is still slower.

Posted by: kirasir

According to the version screen shot on the HTC page, the posted ROM is identical to the leaked one.

Correct, the Official ROM appears to be the exact file that was released 3 weeks ago. Same file size, same version numbers, same radio. (unless I'm proven wrong)

Again, for those of you who update to the official, here's the ppcgeeks thread to help you get your gps, and possibly data working.

Check the thread on PPCGeeks referenced in this thread. You need to reprovision your phone (*22803) by choosing the "program your phone" option. After that, it will reboot and you should also call back and update your roaming list. Everything should work fine after that.

I am surprised that the same ROM that we have had for 3 weeks is being released as is considering the amount of work to get the gps working properly and to deal with the immediate effects of flashing (e.g. no data). I imagine that support requests to Telus are going to increase sharply from the people who flash this.

Posted by: Quser112

does anyone know why the filename is slightly different. The official one up on htc now has the word "web" at the end whereas the leaked one didnt. Im assuming its because its now available online?>

Posted by: Shrink0823

No idea - however, opening up the file reveals the same file dates and sizes as the previously released version.

Posted by: tobeychris

My guess is that they kept it on their server, just renamed it so we didn't know the link, and blocked access to the server's filesystem (that's how we found it).

Did anyone upgrade while having the original alltel rom or another custom rom? Does it work well? Does it relock the phone?

Put the phone in diagnostic mode, and connect it to the USB cable. It will install the Wmodem for you then. (That's the first install referred to in the PPC instructions.) Once that first install is done, the needed "qcmdmxp.sys" file will be in the drivers folder as indicated. (It won't be there until you finish that first install.) At least that is what worked for me.

It took me a couple of tries to get the settings all right, but I now have GPS! Very cool!

Posted by: tobeychris

It does not relock.

As for the instruction.. I don't know how I can be more clear. If you have suggestions let me know.

Posted by: mikeneri

Well, I followed all the steps... and Google Maps still fails to locate a satellite. What am I doing wrong?

TCMP no longer works for me on 6.1. Any other programs working for 6.1 that can play divx encoded files?

Posted by: chrispipe

what's wrong with your TCPMP

I extracted the .sys file needed for QPST from the Wmodem driver on the xda developers page (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...me=TitanGpsFix).

As for your Google Maps problem, did you put your GPS in Smart mode? I forgot to do that the first time.

Posted by: grouchy_one

Out of curiosity, am I the only one that finds that this ROM is grossly bloated? After re-installing everything, I find that I have 20MB less storage space than I did before I updated the ROM.

And anyone having problems deleting the Telus Navigaotr CAB from ROM? Resco explorer refuses to delete it even after I've unchecked the Read-only property.

I then tried Telus navigator and it finds my location fine but in Google maps it does not. Also I would like to change some of the Icons on the extra side of the cube that has telus e-mail, telus navigator and pocket express

After flashing the new rom, everything is blank. After entering this data, and enabling smartmode in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/SUPL AGPS, i get a solid 5-6 locks in my basement. These results are on the Telus leaked radio, rom and PPST

However, on the 3.42 radio, i was getting 6-8.

You're going to need a registry editor and go to where ghettofreeryder said to go. There will be an entry that says:

EnableGPSSmartMode

The default is 0. Change that to a 1 to put it into smart mode.

Posted by: mikeneri

can you recommend a reg editor and where to find it?

Posted by: a1jatt

if you dont want to mess around with registry you can install the cab file posted couple pages ago in this thread.

there are only three things you need to do
1. Copy VIRSER_GPS.dll file in windows folder
2. Set smart Gps on using the cab file posted in above post
and
Make sure following options are set right.
the settings should be as follows
Allowed = checked
Assistanc-Spherical = checked
PDE IP Address = 216.198.139.92
PDE Port Number = 8889
PDE Transport = IP
Position Calculation = PDE

if you have done above three steps right and you are on TELUS network you gps is supposed to work.

I haven't done step 1... that wasn't posted anywhere.

Care to elaborate? Where do I find the dll?

I don't know what i'm doing wrong. Everything is done EXACTLY as said and Google Maps does not aquire a satellite signal.

The cab provided above... do I need to do anything once its been installed? Because I can't seem to find it ANYWHERE on my phone. I dont know where its installing it.

that cab installs only one registry entery enableGpsSmartmode = 1 , so no you dont need to do anything else to it.
Go under phone settings .. see if your location settings is set to on. ??

Posted by: a1jatt

can you connect to QPST and go to agps tab?
then click on read from phone, and enter spc code.
What do you have in the fields under agps tab there?

It's working!

I just connected on Google Maps and was as high as 8 satellites.

Thanks, everyone, for your help! It's really appreciated.

There is no need for the virser dll.
On a brand new swap unit I installed the new rom, changed the gpsOne setting, installed tomtom, and get connections instantly.

Posted by: ipassgas

What am I doing wrong?
I installed the new update.
Everything is working well (data and phone).
Ran the cab file "a1jatt Enable_Smart_GPS.zip" on my device.
Downloaded google maps (to device).
Google maps works but GPS doesn't.
Location setting is set to "ON".
Please Help!!!

Are there any adverse affects to having the virser dll there? Should I delete it and see if it works or just leave it?

It will work without this file.
If you dont have this file GPS can crash when device goes in sleep mode.

So, basically, now that it's working I should just leave it alone?

Posted by: ipassgas

do you just move "virser dll" into the windows folder or do you have to run something?

I still can't get any GPS with google maps.

Can someone please post a "GPS for Dummies" set of instructions?
Thanks is advance.

1. run enable smart gps cab posted on previous page..
2. Right click on active sync icon in the system tray, go to connection settings.
From there take check mark off of "allow usb connection"
3. then follow instructions from here

I've tried following the PPCGeeks instructions on 2 separate machines. On my Vista box the first driver gets installed fine but it fails at the second driver because the qcmdmxp.sys file is not on the machine at all.

On my XP box, it installs the first driver fine and the qcmdmxp.sys file is in the location stated but it won't let me point to it because the driver install routine is looking for a .INF file.

I'm assuming that both these drivers need to be installed in order to use QPST. Any ideas on what step(s) I missed?

Posted by: canadiankorean

Is the enable smartgps.cab needed?
is that the same thing as modifying the registry settings?

if so, my google maps still can't locate satellites.
telus navigator works though.

What's the SPC or Service programming code for the Telus HTC touch? I've got as far as step 10. So far so good... Just need the SPC!!!
Thanks in advance.

Posted by: a1jatt

http://rs51.rapidshare.com/files/88594923/GetSPC.zip
Download attached files.. Extract and run these ON THE PHONE.
Enter hex esn.. that will give you your SPC.

A1JATT -- YOU ROCK.
If you were female, between the ages of 18 and 35, even if you were only half good looking, I'd give you a big juicy kiss!!! Your instructions are perfect and GPS is finally working. That's the one HUGE thing that this phone was missing. Now it's there.

Now, if I could only figure out how to re-install operamini (with that JBED thing, I'll be all set).

Thanks again.

Posted by: canadiankorean

Instead of that GetSPC, just download the PPST.log file on your phone.
The SPC code is in it
