GPS works in telus nav but not google maps. In order to get back to qpst, you have to do the ##diag again and for me, unplug and plug the usb cable again.. |

Reasoning, they'll say it does not have enough ram to support 6.1 or something, then they can get out of updating alot of now older units. idk, we wait. WR |

as for A1Jatt's statement, i suppose its possible that you're right, that I'm still getting EVDO, but webpage loading seems to take longer than it did before the updated ROM, and I was sure that it used to say EV-DO when I expanded the icon... Hopefully I'm just being stupid. |

Page loading speed also depends on the browser and page rendering ability of device. Download Opera mobile for Diamond from xda-developers, that is way better browser. |

I deleted the dll, soft-reset, opened up Google Maps and within 10 seconds I had 8 locks while travelling on the Go Train.

And yes, it really only takes 2 minutes. |

GPS works. Google maps is a location finder only. (obviously you can get directions and view the rest of the map too) but turn by turn programs cost $$. I recomment TT7, some others like Garmin... but I've never heard good things about Telus Nav :P |

The reason you do that is to bypass Activesync and talk to the phone directly. |

That said, this sub-forum is for Telus and therefore the Touch label should be expected to refer to one specific model -- the Vogue.

Here's what I did and where I ran into walls. 1st, I followed the advice of TobeyChris here QPST gpsone settings Now, I tried first on my Vista laptop and that didn't go anywhere. QPST would never find my phone. So I plugged the ol Touch into my desktop XP and still I hit a snag. The computer didn't have the proper drivers to recognize the phone as a modem (or whatever it is it actually has to do... drivers missing, that's the point). So I downloaded and installed this package here (I know some of you are probably thinking "well, that might work on my vista pc, I did try this package on my vista pc and it didn't work for me, I would recommend xp) HTC drivers After that, the desktop recognized the HTC usb modem and QPST found the phone, I could change the gpsone setting... let me tell you, I was a happy lad. However, I still had no GPS on google maps... So I kept looking. Some people suggested a registry change so I downloaded a registry editor here: Registry Editor I used the PocketPC 2002/2003 file and installed it on my Touch. I followed the advice of ghettofreeryder and changed the 0 under HKEY_Local_Machine/software/htc/supl_apgs EnableGPSsmartmode to a 1. I did a soft reset... no gps... went back to the registry editor and found it didn't save the setting for Enable GPSsmartmode so I changed it again.. but did not do any reset. Opened up Google Maps... turned on use gps and 10 seconds later, my HTC Touch knew exactly where I was!... So I still have to figure out how to save the registry setting, but I'm still feeling triumphant. In fact, I think I'll have a beer and celebrate. I also just want to say thanks for all of those people who take the time to take dummy's like me by the hand and show us the way. Cheers, Shawn |
