3G iPhone Likely Unlockable Within Week?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I put my iPhone v1 up on eBay for a week. Just want to make sure that I'll be able to use my new 3G iPhone before I have to ship the old iPhone to the buyer....? (I'm on T-Mobile)

I know the dev team has done it w/ 2.0, but I'm talking a release to us, the public...

Thanks

I guess it'll be speculation at this point. Guessing from previous trend, a week seems like a good number.

Anyway, I thought T-Mobile doesnt have 3G network anyway??

It doesn't, but I want GPS, better battery, better audio, etc... Anyway, hopefully the UNLOCK comes out within a week.

Don't hold your breath bubba. They've unlocked firmware 2.0 on the older iPhones with bootloaders 3.9 & 4.6 (older versions of the firmware anyway), they'll still have to find a way to crack the bootloader on the new phones which may not be a fast process. And they still have to break into the latest version of the 2.0 firmware too. May not be as fast as you think.

They've not done it, on the 3G hardware. And unless anyone here has a magic crystal ball - any answers you are getting are seriously wild *** guesses!

So here's my two guesses:

It will take 18 hours, 37 minutes, 12 seconds from right ....NOW!
or
It will take 732 more days, because there aren't nearly as many coders interested in solving this problem any more, since most everyone can get a legit phone now.

It will definitely be one of those two. Definitely.

What makes you say there aren't as many people working on it? Seems to me that the exact same people are working on it as we speak. The 1st gen iphone is done already, the 3g is just a matter of time but where do you see that less of the team are working toward the goal?

there's still plenty of reason to unlock and jailbreak the phones... for one, in the US T-Mobile doesn't offer the iPhone and people want to be able to use it on that network... and 2 (which is probably the biggest thing) Installer apps. Apple has restrictions on what the developers can do with their supported apps (in the appstore) like background processes, customization, etc, and jailbreaking is the only way to be able to allow those unsupported apps to work.
