I'm curious. Who was listed as eligible for $199/$299 only to find that they wern't? Or vice versa.

I was not eligible for discounted pricing but it rang up 299 for my 16gb.

Nightmare eligibility issue here. I was a first day generation 1 iPhone buyer and confirmed my eligibility with ATT before the launch. Showed up at my Apple store at 4 a.m. and was second in line.

In the store at 8 a.m., only to find out that I was not eligible (according to Apple's database) because I had a employee discount on the line (its a personal, non-business line). 45 minutes on hold with ATT got nothing accomplished (they weren't even able to remove the corp. discount). I was sent to an ATT store, which of course by that point was sold out.

Checked another store . . . also sold out, but they did remove the corp. discount (took all of 1 second).

Then back to the Apple store (its about 10:30 a.m. by now). Huge line around the mall because Apple's servers were down. Not sure I wanted to wait, since I wasn't positive that the removal of the corp. discount would do the trick. Thankfully, amazing Apple store employee spots me, remembers my issue, and pulls me right into the store. As soon as the servers were up, the sale went through!!!! (Still no activation, though).

I knew before today that business accounts would need to go through ATT and not the Apple store, but I had no idea that I wouldn't qualify on a personal line due to a corp. discount. Really crappy of ATT and Apple to not make this clear before today.
